Ok, I went back and fixed some things. I'll be working on something this summer and putting a hell of a lot of time into it, I'm curious to see how it'll turn out.

Alright, Mario. I'll see what I can do to get a couple up tonight. Locating my sketchbook and all that. Here's a link that you might find helpful in regards to the cross-hatching: http://www.portrait-artist.org/basics/techniques.html
and to help with your female drawing: http://www2.evansville.edu/drawinglab/female.html
Here's a book that will help you with the construction of the human form... yes, I know it's a comic book illustrating guide, but it's REALLY very helpful. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0671530771/103-3152711-8111056?v=glance
Portraiture isn't easy... not by a long-shot. And women are particularly difficult for most to draw, because there are varying curves and folds that aren't consistent from form to form. But it can certainly be done without formal training. If you'd like to see some of the other art I've done (not figure drawing, unfortunately) take a look at this post: http://www.ubersite.com/m/58006

I'd like to see those figure drawings you made too. Not because I don't think you know what you're talking about (you obviously do), but because I'm curious and enjoy looking at this stuff.

Thanks Cookie, I'll work on that for the next one. I've never had art classes or anything, so I really don't know shit about cross-hatching, I'll have to go figure that one out.

Not great, but not crap, for sure. Her lower legs are still very odd and stick-like, her face is emotionless, and your shading needs some help. Try doing some cross-hatching or something instead of just smearing the graphite around. It ends up making your model look dirty, not shadowed.
Her head looks disconnected from her body, probably because the hair covers the neck, and therefore, things don't line up just right. And while we're on the subject of the hair, the individual lines make it look stringy and bushy. Go for a more cohesive look... add some shine to it, make it flow.
Where he shoulder connects to her body is a little awkward... use shading to define that line instead of one hard line with shading above and below. The hand is excellent, and that's some hard shit to do right there, so kudos.
Her booty could use some help too. And her other arm.... it just looks kinda slapped on there, like an afterthought.
Please don't think I'm being mean. It's nothing but constructive criticism from one artist to another. I'll even take some pictures of figure drawings that I've done to prove I know what's up, if I need to.
