A young priest walks into the church one day. The congregation is waiting expectantly and slightly impaciently, half of them wanting to watch a football game. He's fairly new to the job, having just left the seminary, but he was a very devout man. This was the first time he would be leading the mass on his own, and he was a little nervouse. All the same however, he knew this is what he was born for, and he loved his job. He stepped up to the pulpit overlooking his flock, and the old priest bowed slightly and took a step back. He knew this was the young man's first solo, but expected nothing less than perfection from him. And had every confidence that the young priest in training would deliver.
The mass started out slow, but grew quicker and more lively as the young man's confidence grew. He was doing so well in fact, that the entire congregation seemed to be paying attention, and on top of that, it appeared that most would make it home in time to catch the beginning of the game. As far as mass goes, the young priest had just taken the ball in for a ninety yard touchdown. He knew it, the old priest knew it, and the congregation knew it. This was definatly a good day to be a Catholic.
Soon enough it was time to wrap it up. This meant a sermon, and the young man was prepared. This would be his first, and he wanted it to be remembered. He was going to wow the audience, confront them directly, and make them look and see inside themselves. He cleared his throat for the last time that morning and look out over his attentive flock. He lowered his hands and asked in a loud and clear voice, "Who amoung us is perfect?"
There was a brief silence. The priest asked again, "C'mon, be honest. Is anyone here perfect?" He looked over to his mentor and asked again, "Father, are you perfect? I'm not. So no one here is perfect?"
There was silence. This is what he wanted. The men and women of his church would leave today with a good feeling, knowing that they were not perfect and not expected to be. To live their lives the best way they could and that was all that was asked.
But then a man stood up in the back of the church. The young priest couldn't believe his eyes at first, but quickly recollected himself. (What was going on? Was this man going to stand up and claim that he was a perfect man with an untainted soul?)
The priest looked down the aisle to where the man had stood and said, "You sir, do you claim to be perfect?"
The man looked up and said in a booming voice, "No father, I am not a perfect person. I'm here standing in for my wife's ex-husband!"

The church roared with laughter as the young man's jaw dropped all the way to floor.

Is the lack of attention just killing you?

Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us
from the animals. Except the weasel.
