Yum! Makes a kick-ass Bloody Mary...or some tasty catfish. Caution: can not be used in place of baby powder for chaffing issues...

I don't know if you've ever seen this before, but I found it and I think it's pretty cool. I thought you might appreciate it.

Check out the Galleries portion. Not broken down by company or skater, but rather by the artists who did the graphics, which is kind of inconvenient, but still . . . . looks like a pretty cool book.

If something's had the same flavor for sixty years, it probably didn't taste that good to begin with.

Two thoughts come to mind:
1. About 10 years ago I was vacationing somewhere in the Caribean. On one afternoon I was enjoying a beautifal a day. Gorgeuos beach, perfect weather. A band was kicking up some sick tunes, and I had just ordered a grilled Tuna. Sitting at the veach bar, a cocktail in hand, ah man it was nice. I glanced over the bar, and there it was, something I did not expect to see. I had to do a double take, but my eyes did not fail me. It truly was a can of Chesapeake Old Bay. Sublime.
2. Aboout 15 years ago I took a job working at McCormick Spice. Outside of the traditional spices, such as pepper, garlic etc.. McCormick also packed Chesapeake Old Bay seasoning. Old Bay comes in a variety of cans, the most odd of which is a 16 ounze. It's a tall can, very awkward and having to pick up 2 at a time, lifting them from the off the line into the box is hard work. It takes some time to get the movememnt down, and even when you do your wrists and hands hurt. Well, I dreaded that line, and one evening I happend to take a piss break in between shifts. Well, I made the mistake of scrathing my balls, which is one of the few places that Old Bay does not belong. Misery.

I can buy here in the grocery store in San Diego, so it's available everywhere now - although you are half-right, 20 years ago or so, it was very difficult to find outside of Maryland.

Old Bay Seasoning was founded more than 60 years ago: a man named Gustav Brunn arrived in the United States from Germany with a hand-held spice grinder and a dream of starting a spice business. In 1939, Brunn settled in Baltimore and developed his secret recipe, which would later become Old Bay Seasoning. This unique blend of more than a dozen herbs and spices was created for a population passionate about steamed crabs, and has since become synonymous with the Chesapeake Bay and its locals.
Celery, bay leaves, and mustard combine with the heat of red pepper and ginger to tempt palates from grilled fish and steamed shrimp to fried chicken, potato salad, and vegetable dips. This unique spice blend evokes images of seaside dining, salty sea breezes, and sandy beaches. Yet this fantastic blend is also at home adding flavor to bounty that's fresh from the farm as well as the sea.
