I was just recalling a post written by a guy several months ago who had just lost a close friend in a car accident. In his post, brought up God- not blaming him so much as saying "screw off." I found it really sad, and yet understandable that he would react like that. I think sometimes we have a horribly skewed view of just what God is.
Let's start with the basics: He is Omnicient, Omnipotent, and Omnipresent. He can do anything, He knows eveything, and He is everywhere at once (not to be confused with "in everything"). As human beings, is is impossible for us to fathom EXACTLY what that means, and we often come up with stuff like, "Well, if God is so powerful, why doesn't He cure all the sickness in the world. Can't he do that?" Yes, He could, if it were part of his plan; but it's not. At least, not yet. You see, one of the advantages of being all-powerful is that you don't HAVE to do anything. Right now, God is letting us reap what we have sown.
I think the Terry Schaivo incident is a good example of that. Many people prayed that God would intervene, but He didn't. Couldn't He have? Sure. And I'm sure he would have loved to, but God plays by His own rules, and the rule is that of sowing and reaping. We're doing it to ourselves, folks.
He's got a plan, and we'll NEVER know just what it is; but you can be sure it's way better than anything you or I could think up.

His lack of action during any and all events in the world is either part of the "big plan" or proof that he doesn't exist. I choose the latter.

If God is omnipotent he'd be able to make a puzzle that God could not solve. Ergo God cannot be both omniscient and omnipotent.

I don't believe in organized religon in anyway, shape or form; however, this post was does not deserve the rating it was getting. The internet is a excellent means of expressing your ideas and beliefs and although people don't have to agree with it, they should at least respect it.
I don't agree with the principals of this post but I have a sneaking suspicion that you are getting thrased b/c of the contempt that people have for religion.
