I can see where it's "easy" to judge urbane. I actually HATED her before Vegas. I'm serious, I really really did not want to meet her. It didn't help that the first thing I heard her say was, "MY BOOBS... wait, who the fuck are you?".
My reply was this- *blank stare*
I was surprised when I ended up liking her. I'm not surprised often.
I've actually been thinking about this a lot. I was thinking, "If Val always gets so much shit for being so sexual, why doesn't she just STOP DOING IT". The obvious answer is this: She's secure enough with who she is that she doesn't HAVE to change. That's respectable.
So yes, Val does talk about her boobs a lot. Yes, she's more sexual than most people I know. But she's also more sweet, caring, and generous than most people I know, too.
Uber is great about placing labels on people. They are great at hating people, or pointing out peoples inadequecies (like spelling, looks, intellegence, weight, mental stability, whatever).
When I see women on uber make comments like "I hate all women" and "I can never get along with females" or whatever it is, it makes me sad. Yes, some people are more intellegent than others. Some people have more tact, others are more moral... but what it comes down to is this:
The people that you are insulting are more than just the "bad" thing you see in them.
I've had pleanty of people be downright MEAN to me these past few months. Granted, I act like a fool sometimes, and perhaps it's best that people point this out... but what the hell is being mean gonna do for anything?
That's the one thing I've learned from the two ubercons I've been to. It's much harder for me to judge people, because I only know a small bit of them, and there's usually an iceburg of good hidden beneath.
How would you like to be the person who held a flame to this hidden iceburg? The person who washed away the inherant good in a person?
It feels better to actally spend time carving away at the surface of someone. Once you see that little glint of goodness inside of them, it'll warm your heart.

Pokey- You can stop by and hang out... Saturday would probably be the best day. Just take Michigan ave out past Saline, past Clinton, and the park is on the right (Walter J Hayes). It's 35 minutes from A2.

Hey, neither have I. Although I have spent a weekend at a strangers house getting drunk, and I have spent a weekend in Vegas with strangers.
I had to get TALKED INTO both trips (thanks aj, you fag). I really really really hated the idea of being stuck somewhere with a bunch of possible weird people. Turns out I had quite a good time.
