Thats the story of the Detroit Pistons. Everyone from Dr. J to Aunt Jamima say they cant do it, they cant win their 2nd championship in 2 years. Well I say fuck them. The naysayers were there last year. They said "the pistons cant beat the lakers, they cant stop Kobe, they cant defend Shaq. Well I say again fuck them. The Wallace boys, Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton, and the rest of the pistons shut the L.A. rapers down in 5 games. They left Kobe cryin, Phil Jackson hidin, and Shaq running to Miami.
This year when the pistons met up with the heat the naysayers were out in full force. They can't beat Miami, Dwayne Wade is on fire. They can't defend Shaq. Well let me say this to you Shaquile AKA Grape Ape. You are over-paid, you havent been good in a few years. Give it up, stick to making crappy rap music and even crappier movies. No soup for you! Granted it was a classic series. But once again the under-dogs survive. Naysayers/haters denied once again. That leads us to the NBA finals. I'm not gonna dis the spurs, from all apearances the pistons will have their hands full. I know next to little about the Spurs. I could spew out a bunch of stats I read on the intraweb. But I will stick to what I know. But the only thing I know about the spurs is they have a future hall of famer in Tim Duncan. They got some guy named Manu that looks like Balkie from perfect strangers. But let me warn you guys, dont believe all the hype, the underdogs are out and they are hungry for another championship. I know Detroit is a shitty city, but they can play ball. And they won't give you something for nothing. From the days of the original "Bad Boys" to todays under-rated, most hated, highly debated Detroit Pistons.

I want to see a blowout, instead of a close game. I can't handle all this bitching I do at the shitty officiating. Seriously, has any team ever been given as many calls as the Spurs get while they're at home? This series should be over by now. The Pistons should and would have had 1 of the first 2 games in S.A. if they weren't playing against two opponents. The Spurs and the officials. When the officiating was less biased towards either team, we saw (arguably) the best NBA Finals game of the last 15 years. It was a heart-breaking overtime loss, but the entertainment value of that game is hard to surpass.
Nobody gives Detroit credit. Ever. When they win it all this year, we'll hear all about how the Spurs didn't play up to their potential. How the Spurs fell apart. How the Spurs this-and-that, but you won't hear anyone come out and say "The Pistons are flat out the better team, and deserved to win." Two people on T.V. give them their dues. Charles Barkley and Steve Smith. Both are quick to tell anyone who doubts the Pistons that they don't know a good team from their ass.
Aside from those two, every other analyst on every sports station licked Miami's nuts, and instead of coming out and saying "Oh, we were wrong about all that", they sit there and continue to downplay everything the Pistons have done. Few have picked Detroit over San Antonio, regardless of how much they were proved wrong in earlier rounds. Everyone who's watched any amount of basketball this year knows which of these two teams had the harder path to the finals.
Whining aside, Duncan and Co. are an exquisite team. They deserve to be where they are (unlike last year's Western Conference champions) and are playing like champions. Ball movement (NOBODY moves the ball like them), defense, and clutch shots have gotten them where they are. Let's just hope they're all out of steam.

Kitchen, both teams are highly defensive but, Detroit does seem to loose their heads when the team they're playing goes on a tear. Not worried, let them come back to D-town in the 3rd game. They'll kick ass as they always do as long as they play nice and share.

Detroit is a great basketball team. I love how they always make the extra pass, I love the unique shape of each of their starting five players, and I love Larry Brown.
But what I don't love is the style of basketball they play. I'm a basketball fan, don't get me wrong, and I understand that defense is a huge part of their game. The fact is, whether you understand basketball or not, watch the Detroit Pistons play is BORING AS FUCK. I'm not saying that Phoenix's squad is the epitome of a basketball team, but christ almighty! 69 fucking points in game 1!
