I sat outside all day, talking to my mom and Jesse. Jesse was my dads best friend, I talkd about him here: http://www.ubersite.com/m/49428 . Since it was so hot, we cooled ourselves down by having a few beers.
As everyone knows- drinking beer while sitting in the sun on a 98 degree day is not a good idea. After two beers I felt buzzed. After four I was drunk.
I talked to them for a bit. Then one of my ex's called and wanted to talk to me about nothing. Then Val called and I tried not to be drunk so I could listen to her and give her advice. Then I got online and added a bunch of people to my MSN and AIM. Then I took a bath. Then I passed out. Around 7:00.
Instead of having a good nights sleep, I woke up at 11:30. What did I do? I logged on to MSN and noticed a bunch of new people on my list. I was confused for a second, but I quickly realized what I had done.
Then I went to the bathroom and noticed that the tub was still full of water. Oh yeah, I took a bath.
Then I read Vals post and remembered that she had called.
Fucking shit! I never forget stuff! Expecially not after four beers!
Then I looked in the mirror. I'm bright fucking red. Ahh sunburn.
Then I remembered talking to my mom... it went something like this:
"I hate that website you go to. It's a bunch of people my age who act like they are 16. A bunch of losers on the internet. That's all it is," she said today, while we sat in the sun and drank beer.
I felt a little surge of anger bubble up. "Mom, are you still reading that website!?"
"YES! And I don't like what people said about me on that story you wrote!"
"Oh jesus mom. They were just kidding around."
"They tell ME to get a life!!!!! Look at them! What a bunch of losers."
Well, hey, can I argue with that?
Anyway, she told me to let everyone know that she's a good person. She snoops because she cares. If you guys had kids who did bad things, you'd snoop, too.
Okay, so I told you that.
Man, my mom wouldn't last a day on ubersite... she'd go all Mystia on us.
Now I'm in this place where Uber has become too personal for me. I used to post stuff just to DO it... just to write... just to be able to vent. I'm "hyper-emotional" as Herpes is fond of saying, and writing on Uber has always allowed me to get a lot of things off my chest without actually having to worry about what people will think.
Ubercons have changed this, a little. If JayPeg writes a stupid post I have a hard time -2ing it, because I don't want to make him feel bad. Had I never met him, I'd probably be the first one to rant and bitch about him. See, I even feel bad writing that. Sorry Jay.
My "reputation" on Uber has changed this, too. I don't want people to keep on with this "you're a whore" thing, because like Herpes says, I'm hyper emotional, and I dislike hearing the same insults over and over again. So now when I feel the urge to write about an ex, a current, or a future guy, I won't. It'll leave me too vunerable to the onslaught of the uber-critics.
Having my mom read Uber has escalated this to the next level. I can't explain to her what Uber is, or why people here act like they do. Some people understand the chemistry of the site, while others are clueless.
My big fear lately is that people can change me. I'm slow to "let people in", but when I do, I'm incredibly trusting of them. I'm terrified that I'll become jaded. I wish I could just be who I am, without the rest of the world having any bearing on me.
I want to exist inside the Bell Jar. I did that for about a year on Uber. Tink Tink on the glass. Now there are cracks in the framework of my safe little haven. Not just my haven on Uber, but my haven in life. I've always been comfortably detached, and now I'm uncomfortably enmeshed.
Normal people are comfortably enmeshed, I think.
Or maybe I think too much. That's the fucking problem.
The moral of the story? Don't drink and sun.

I've always wondered how people here find the guts to meet each other. I'd imagine a lot of people afraid to say anything to each other's face, and a lot of fights over some random years old remark. Sometimes things are just better left as they are, I think. That way they don't lose their mystique.
And tell your mom to make a post. That'd be a real treat.
