There are currently four generations in the workforce right now: The Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Gen Xers, and the Millennials. Some, like myself, perceive a constant struggle to find their niche and make their place in this work environment. This leads to constant conversation from the different generations on how they perceive the other generations.

In a recent conversation it was said that the Millennials and Gen Xers were the 'do it if it feels good' generations. The Millennials, who grew up with technology in their pockets and have just entered the workplace, and the Gen Xers, who are now starting to settle down having survived the .com-bubble, are two generations that have pushed their way into the workplace. A couple of 40-somethings commented that they saw my generation as being one that was terribly unconcerned about the well-being of others and that our attitude toward the integrity/morality/mortality/authority of those around us (or lack thereof) is one of "everything's ok if they're not hurting me".

Not to point fingers or anything, but I think I know where that attitude came from. If I remember correctly, there was this little thing called Woodstock that defined the whole generation of post-Vietnam Boomers. "Peace man, and do what feels good. Like some 'shrooms or something." The last I remember, shrooms made me think that my bed sheets were trying to eat me. That didn't feel very good at all. In fact, wasn't it in their generation that we saw the rise of Gordon Gekko's "Greed is good" and the original pink polo shirt when they made the transition from the weed room to the boardroom?

And since when did my generation agree that everything's ok so long as it's not hurting me. I don't seem to remember it being ok when two kids went and shot up Columbine. I don't remember it being ok when Reginald Denney got snatched out of his truck and beaten on national television And I certainly don't remember it being ok when I went looking for a job at a job fair on September 11, 2001. There seems to be this belief that our generation is socially disconnected minus a feeling of obligation tied to egoism. I would hardly call it self-centered to think that the consequences of a previous generations leadership will come to fruition in the following generation's time.

These events before us and behind us will shape all of our generations to come and I think that whether it's business, politics, technology, relationships, or resources we need to come to a consensus and do the things that will benefit everyone.

It's hardware based so there is no 'backdoor'. However, for the right price, I could teach you the lovely intracacies of the world that is sewing machine maintenance. That should fund your movie habit nicely.

I'm a research engineer, mainly focused on sensor technology. I'm working on a new type of anti-piracy technology for movie theaters in my spare time.

Dude, you better write a backdoor to that shit and give it to me or something. I do not want to have to start paying for my movies.

I have the utmost respect for the Traditionalists because they have one of the best work ethics. Work hard, work harder, play hard. They have lived by it, put their kids through college by it, and attempted to raise their grandkids on it. It the same generation that told us to stash some in the mattress cause you never know when the whole bank could go belly up.

c1ndy -
GenX includes people born from 1965-1980
Millenials(GenY, Gen Next, Baby Busters) were born from 1981-1999

I feel bad for the Millennials because they are inheriting a completely ass backward economy from the Boomers that they will have to pry from the already screwed up Gen Xers' death-grip in order to ensure their survival.

Marge, please, old people don't need companionship. They need to be
isolated and studied, so it can be determined what nutrients they have
that might be extracted for our personal use.

I think it all boils down to one generations inability to understand the next so they make stuff up.

I just do my best to ignore them in hopes that they go away and stop talking to me about things they know nothing about.

Second class? What about Social Security, bus discounts, Medic-Alert
jewelery, Gold Bond powder, pants all the way up to your armpits, and
all those other senior perks? Oh, if you ask me, old folks have it
pretty sweet.
