-----------------------------------------
To my children I leave the weapons of war. Guard them well, for you shall need them in the times ahead: of this I am certain. Perhaps you will pass them onto the next generation in time, or perhaps they will have grown old, and useless, and to use them would be to cut yourself.
Also to my children I leave my legacy. My death means nothing, because my actions will live on; they will shape you all, and give you purpose where none was needed, and make you arrogant, or maybe complacent, but whatever else there is my legacy will leave you hatred, and bigotry.
To my friends I leave pride; to my enemies I leave wounds. You shall bear them, and whether you choose to reconcile or let fester is of no consequence to me, for I am already long gone, and I have served my purpose, such as it was.
I am dead as you read this, but I was dead when I wrote it, and died between times. The worst scars are those you can't see, and I have as many of those as I had my visible reminders of my turbulent past.
But the scars don't matter; the hate doesn't matter; nothing of this matters, not to you, who reap the benefits. We all have to choose someone sometime who will do the necessary work, who will fight, and kill, and be scarred, and shrug it off and ask for more: the needs of the many, before the needs of the few.
To my brothers I leave the spoils of war; for what they are worth, you can have them. Certainly, they did not protect me, or stop me, or keep me from fighting: I always went seeking more, and found it, and was dulled to it.
To my dearest I leave nothing, for I have nothing left that is worth giving. All I made was for others, and I let them take from me, and gave it willingly. This is the fact, the one truth, that I cannot take with me to the grave, and it is one that every warrior must learn. The hate, the animosity, it all corrupts, until you loath loathing, and that's a conundrum you'll never break.
To my children, I leave the weapons of war. You may let them grow dusty for long enough, or pretend not to use them while keeping them sharp. For show, you might say, or for safety. But I will know that you want it, and you'll not know it's corrupting 'til you're corrupted.
In time, my great-great-great-grandchildren may well look at this, and will say to themselves, "Hark, at the old man's bitter words." And they will marvel at how things have changed, and the advances they have made, yes, the great difference between now and then; and afterwards they will go, and will hate, and maybe they'll sometime love, but what's love but hate's twin brother? They will hate, and they will fight, and say they have made a difference. And those that battle will learn their lesson, and write in their own will:
To my children, I leave the weapons of war.

It seems odd to me that this is what I thought Uber was when I started coming here. People doing creative writing, writing about parody, writing about life experiance.
And I'll admit, I do join in on the SPT, but it is a shame when I see good writing left unnoticed.
Good stuff here man.

Addendum: - There have been various comments to date which I want to quickly adress:
The unifying theme of the three posts is hatred and violence. badassmofo suggested a world governed by gods dealing out life lessons, and I can see where he got this from; while I didn't intend this to be the purpose, it's certainly a suggestion that intrigues me immensely and that I will explore in the future.
This is *not* actual hatemadness. It was intended as an ironic pun. Several people have made stupid comments and have blatantly not read the actual post. This is poor.
Ambiguity has been called into question by Viciousriffs; I appreciate this comment, but I intended for ambiguity throughout. You're supposed to take your own lessons from it, and find your own meaning in some of the things I've written. If I were to write it entirely in black-and-white terms, some of the intention and purpose would be lost.
