Do you remember the movie "The Girl, the Golden Watch, and Everything"?
I saw it on TV about 20 years ago - I don't know if it ever played in theaters. The golden watch had a special power where when the person wearing the watch pushed a button on it, everything and everybody stood still except for that person. Things stayed that way until the wearer pushed the button again.
When time stood still, the wearer of the watch could do ANYTHING. I don't know if this is part of the movie or just something I'm making up, but if the wearer touched someone while pushing the button, both people would be "awake" when time stood still, and again, could do ANYTHING.
The movie, or at least the concept of the golden watch, stuck in my mind - second to my fantasy of winning $80 million in a lottery, I dream of owning the watch (statistically, they're about the same chance, so why can't I dream?).
My daydreams of using the watch go from jokes, to simple theft, to vigilantiism, to downright perversion.
Boy I wish I had a watch like that...
Or at least $80 million.

When I was about 8, I wrote a story called 'The Bag with a Hundred Handles' whose entire premise was that I owned a bag with a hundred handles. Nothing happened, I just owned a bag. With a hundred handles.
This post reminded me of that masterwork.

I once saw a Twilight Zone episode about this exact thing. The watch falls on the ground, breaks, and the guy who owns it goes crazy, locked in a single moment in time.
