---
Thomas sat in the bleak darkness of a single room flat in London, the only source of light from the thin flame of a candle thick at the base from hours of use. He read the notes he had taken during his apprenticeship, trying to retain the focus and discipline he had acquired by keeping his lessons fresh in his mind.
"Every person has a soul.
"Every person has a purpose.
"To some this is believed but not known; to others, not believed at all. Some embrace the essence of soul without knowing the source of their ability or believing in the concept of divinity. Faith is a crucial element in the development of the mind, body and soul, if only because it is a path to accessing one's Will- yet it is the Will itself from which true power is drawn, not the object of the faith.
"It is with the handful that KNOW the nature of their soul and purpose with which the fate of humanity lies."
The notes were penned in his own hand. The voice that had spoken these axioms to him had long faded from the recesses of his memory, yet the understanding and wisdom they imparted was as fresh as if he were just hearing them for the first time.
He contemplated this for a moment, remembering what it was like to consider these principles for the very first time. Once, long ago-- now seeming to be millions of years past-- these tenets seemed strange and astounding. Now they were like second nature to him, as easily understood and accepted as the law of gravity. He smiled to himself as he remembered that these foundations of understanding were far more immutable than even gravity itself.
"Over the history of mankind, there have been many who have tapped into the Source. Most have passed into legend, though some have remained chronicled in the records of man. Each had a purpose, a place and the means to act. Though to the casual observer, it would appear that some of these people were borne of evil and could have no part of 'God' in them, this belief errs in a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of Divinity.
"Divinity is akin to all other elements known to mankind. It is like fire, which can heat a home or burn it down; like water, which sustains all life and destroys it equally without remorse or consciousness. Those who would harness the Divine spark to do good are no different in the mechanics of their understanding than those who utilize the Source for evil ends.
"Will. Faith. Ambition. Discipline. These are the tools of the Divine warrior. Caesar, Mohammed, Moses and Hitler alike were all defined by the same fundamental characteristics, though toward very different ends. Each had a purpose and the fire burning within them that drove them to bring their desires to fruition."
Thomas often considered whether Caesar (or others like him) understood the nature of the spark that burned within them.
He thought that perhaps a religious man, such as Moses, had a better comprehension of the nature of Divinity-- even if it were tainted by the constraits of religion. He wondered what kind of power the old prophets would have wielded, if only they came to truly understand Divinity in its true nature.
This brought another smile to his face, as he mused that were these men of faith to explore the nature of the Source, it would cripple what ability they already wielded as it ate away from their faith itself. They were restrained by the very means with which they accessed their Will.
"From the perspective of the end of time, the events leading up to that single moment when all that exists shall cease to do so can only take place in one order and fashion.
"What took place in the life of any person yesterday from their perspective as the events took place was a series of conscious choices that led toward the consequential ramifications. This is known as 'cause and effect', and falsely creates the illusion of 'free will'.
"Yet should the person look back upon the events that took place yesterday, that person will see a single path forged by the 'choices' they apparently made. Though they seemed to be making decisions at the time, only one course of events would take them exactly to where they are at the time they contemplate the day's events.
"From the perspective of the end of time, things happened a single way and could only have happened that way.
"Those who understand this principle are one step closer to realizing their true purpose and working within the system instead of chaotically making their 'decisions' with no point of focus."
Originally, this concept had made little sense to him. Looking back, not only was the nature of the truth behind it evident, but also that his initial lack of understanding was part of the sequence of events that brought him to where he was. He knew that through true comprehension of these principles and conditioning one's mind to accept that which seems impossible, the mind is strengthened.
"Know that your path has already been set in stone. Pray that you have the discipline to achieve greatness in life... for although you will live your life according to one path which has already been foretold, that path is obscured from you. For all you know, you may be the next Moses... or the next Hitler."
Reading that last line always brought him a dry chuckle.

haha, I countered that cocksucker by rating every post he -2ed, with a +2!
It won't get it back to before, but it will help.

You officially kick ass.
And with Bart banning this dick, my rating is restored.
Nevertheless, it's a broken system for Bart to have to deal with these insects manually. You'd think there would be a mechanism in the code that would auto-ban someone if they dropped, say... more than 20 negative twos in under five minutes.

Wow. ProgramGeek rated 3/4 of my posts with a -2 and dropped my overall rating from a 1.49 to a 1.24.
This site is broken.

It's nothing personal.
I have actually made it my prerogative to -2 everyone for whoring for votes, because I'd like to see people with writing skills get in. Lets face it those who keep trading votes and dedicating posts to getting votes have as much chance surviving the first round as a box of krispy cream donuts does at Oprahs house.
Here's a +2 because this is good, and wasn't just a whore for votes like most others. I'm going to read the others.

+2 primarily because Adam's got sand in his vagina lately.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He's always been a dick to me. Of all the users who have rated me at least four times, he's given me the third worst ratings (on average, between ten reviews he has left). The people who got first and second place have had their ratings taken away (they're still on the posts, but the ratings don't count because the people who left them give everyone constant shit).
So basically, Adam is the president of the "fuck prophet" club.

I didn't think you sucked. I love this series.
I'd write more, but the keyboard on my hella-cool Ultra-personal computer is small, and actual typing is cumbersome.

I figured the readers of this series could use a little enlightenment into the theory and theology that surrounds it.
I hope you guys like the means by which I revealed it- originally I was just going to post the "notes" on their own, but then I thought it might be apropos to introduce the new character at the same time and give some insight into his internal monologue and background.
More to come soon.
