I'm bored and have serious writer's block, as in I haven't the gumption to write a serious post that Uber as a collective pine for every day and expect from my genuine, peerless Tolkeinesque talent, as opposed to having a dreadful bout of unimaginativelessness. See - I made a word, THAT'S how good I am.

What do you listen to, nerds? It defines you to a point, methinks. In no particular order, well, maybe in some kind of order.. you can only list ten, no waffling, or I'll get cross..

1. Led Zeppelin

2. Neil Young

3. Radiohead

4. Soundgarden

5. Rage Against the Machine

7. You Am I

8. Smashing Pumpkins

9. The Pixies

10. Sonic Youth

When I look at this it doesn't escape me that I'm quite possibly angsty, cross, and like guitars..

Now, the minute I hit submit, I'll think, "Fuck it, I forgot Nick Cave."

(Am listening to Sunday by Sonic Youth right, fucking, now - awesome.)

Off the top of my head and in random order, some bands/solo artists I like a lot...

Pink Floyd
Nirvana
Bright Eyes
Smashing Pumpkins
Led Zeppelin
Sublime
Bob Marley
Janis Joplin with her various bands
The Eagles
The Doors
Modest Mouse
Outkast
Bob Dylan
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
Fiona Apple
Joan Osbourne
David Gray
The Deftones
System of A Down
Rage Against the Machine
Old Korn, not new shitty Korn. Nothing after "Follow the Leader"

There are a ton of others I can't think of. I listen to pretty much anything except modern country and pop. I like back porch music on NPR a lot. Old folk songs and stuff. Anybody else listen to that at all?

He's one of the few who's voice sounds so bad, but yet....

It's still my primary choice, when feeling maudlin.

What a beautiful face
I have found in this place
That is circling all round the sun
What a beautiful dream
That could flash on the screen
In a blink of an eye and be gone from me
Soft and sweet
Let me hold it close and keep it here with me

And one day we will die
And our ashes will fly from the aeroplane over the sea
But for now we are young
Let us lay in the sun
And count every beautiful thing we can see
Love to be
In the arms of all I'm keeping here with me

What a curious life we have found here tonight
There is music that sounds from the street
There are lights in the clouds
Anna's ghost all around
Hear her voice as it's rolling and ringing through me
Soft and sweet
How the notes all bend and reach above the trees

Now how I remember you
How I would push my fingers through
Your mouth to make those muscles move
That made your voice so smooth and sweet
And now we keep where we don't know
All secrets sleep in winter clothes
With one you loved so long ago
Now he don't even know his name

What a beautiful face
I have found in this place
That is circling all round the sun
And when we meet on a cloud
I'll be laughing out loud
I'll be laughing with everyone I see
Can't believe how strange it is to be anything at all

As I'm going to be 30 next week, here is my genuine list (in no order) from 10 years ago, forgive the Blur it was 1995.

1) The Doors
2) The Pixies
3) Stone Roses
4) Blur
5) Velvet Underground
6) Bob Marley
7) Snoop dogg
8) Prodigy
9) Leftfield
10) Beatles

Ten years on I need beautiful melodies more than I need edgy angst, so in no order again:

1) Jah Cure (reggae's up and coming star)
2) Beres Hammond (reggae's heavy hitter, bahutiful voice, many, many great songs)
3) Sanchez (reggae's incredible talent, what an incredible voice)
4) Criminal Mindz ( one of old skool rave's best)
5) LTJ Bukem (chilled jungle originator, listen: http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:LTJ%20Bukem:1927203911 )
6) Elephant Man (not all of his stuff)
7) Maxi Priest (reggae again and highly under rated)
8) Damian "Junior" Gong Marley (Bob's son and awesome)
9) Wayne wonder (the song "No letting go" is a tip of a mighty iceburg)
10) Bitty Mclean (reggae again with brilliant music, listen here: http://www.rockersuptown.de/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=5971 )
Do yourself a favor this summer and buy.

Was this meant to be titled ; "What do you listen to?" or "What, do you listen too?"

If the former, noise. If the latter, yes.

BobLobla - I wanted to say thanks for putting me onto Muse (now if they would just drop the singer cause the band fucking rocks)
----------------
I aim to please, I know what you are saying about the singer.

My thing with music is I dont pay much attention to the lyrics, at all. I have never really enjoy poetry and unless the songs meaning jumps out at me I often dont even know what the fuck it is about. That being said, I can tell you when there is a fucking cool drum solo/bass line/ guitar solo about to come up and when something fucking awesome musically is about to happen.

This is the main reason for my love of bands like DMB, Incubus, Tool among other. Fucking GREAT musician that can write some FUCKING KILLER riffs.

Oh yes it was 10 wasn't it, here goes the final BEST EVER music people EVER in the history of everything.

1. Scissor Sisters - music to bum to, the best gay band since Wham and even better than Maroon 5 (if that is possible).

2. Gwen Stefani - touched with genius and a voice to die for (literally) I especially like her weird slanty eyed lesbian friends, which are imaginary (how amazing and smart is that).

3. Jo Jo - like sooo credible and sooo smart and sooo talented, don't ya love underage fat chicks.

4. Kelly Clarkson - the best thing to come out of television, since like adverts were invented.

5. Britany - she'll be around for like forever, even with a huge beer gut and lactating breasts she's like still amazing.

6. Rachel Stevens - now OLD Kylie Minogue has tit rot Rachel can take over the pop world, go girl.

7. Maroon 5 - the hippest and coolest guys on the planet best band in the world EVEEERRRR.

8. Joss Stone - like sooo edgy and talented, better than any of those old Mowtown singers from the past, shes sooo now, she sooooo the future.

9. Akon - the best black singer in the world today, his music and lyrics are better than anyone else's - he makes me cry when I hear his chipmonks song.

And finally

10. Coolio - I see a lot of you have been trying to beef up your street cred with 'so-called' cutting edge indie bands, but this guy is a true original gangsta, man he's so street that he's practically a pavement slab. No matter how many times you hear a classic song like 'gangsters paradise' all the hairs on the back of your neck will rise up in respect.

Beat that fuckers.
