Kike, gook, spick, wetback, chink, nip, nazi, cracker, whitey all offensive terms for groups of people. But only if you say Nigger is anyone allowed to be completely irrational and react like an animal. Anyone, find the one word that allows any other group to behave in this manner? Its accepted and encouraged for blacks to overreact to that word! This type of behavior by our society perpetuates the very discrimination they claim to want to discourage.
I doubt I will ever understand this conundrum.
Equality means treating all groups the same with no discrimination between them.
How does empowering this word help anyone? If everyone used this word on a regular basis, without the expected overreaction, we would dis-empower the word. It would no longer be an excuse for behavior that No one approves of. This strategy worked for all the groups listed above.
No more double standards. No more special treatment. We are all equal under the eyes of our chosen Higher power. He doesn't care what we call each other, why should we?
Call me all the names you want, they are just words.

No, it means not discriminating on the basis of race. Which is what using a racist label does, it's just plain wrong, don't bother justifying it.
There is no conundrum either: if you refer to someone of a different ethnic background by an insulting label, it's insulting.
If you refer to someone of the same ethnic background by an insulting label, you are insulting yourself and that's just fine.

I just blatantly do not agree with this statement. Many of the examples cited in the opening sentence illicit similar emotions...

If everyone used that word on a regular basis, it wouldn't stop carrying negative connotations, people would just get desensitised to it.
If skullfucking rape was made legal, and the folks of Uber went crazy skullraping everyone in the world mercilessly, eventually people may get used to it. It may start working into peoples' routines. It would stop making the news.
It would still be skullfucking rape and bad though.
The moral of this comment is don't rape people in their skulls.
