Earlier today I had posed the question to the many math minds that troll this site to calculate how much Ubersite has cost industry/government in lost wages. I checked back to see if anyone had seen fit to figure it out for me. Since it's a Saturday and I am one of the few actually online at the moment (woohoo way to waste my only Saturday afternoon off in a month), I figured I would use my limited and faulty math skills to try to figure out this great financial mystery.
According to (http://www.internetnews.com/stats/print.php/3096031):
The average American spends 74.91 mins a day at work on the internet.
According to (www.bls.gov/ncs/ocs/sp/ncbl0449.pdf)
The average American in 2001 earned $15.46 an hour.
Ubersite has been around since 98/99 but I will venture an estimate that it hasn't been really as active till 2000. Which is about 5 years, which is 1825 (I forgot the leap year but I am not adding it at this late hour)
If we pretend that this is the only site that these people are visiting Ubersite costs industry/goverment 19.64 per day per person.
According to (http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?&range=1y&size=medium&compare_sites=&y=p&url=ubersite.com#top)
Ubersite is visited by 13,559 (this takes not only the hits, but takes into account that only one hit per person per day counts)
So Ubersite costs government/industry $266,298.76 per day.
And in the last 5 years it has cost government/industry $485,995,237.00

YOU forgot to divide your figure by the number of alters on the site, which is about 3/4 of them.
