I came back from vacation today to find a feminist trend on Uber. I have therefore decided to repost one of my all-time FAVORITE posts, by a little-known user named SpikeGoddess. All you n00bs who weren't here during her prime really missed out on a lot of good writing. I suggest you look at her history. Her posts are some of the best reasons I visited this site in the first place. I know I may get flamed for reposting another user's post, but it's not the ratings I care about on this one. It's the message.

Dear Men,
There's something that you need to know. I wish I could find a better way to tell you, a way that's just for you and not a generic letter... So imagine me beside you at the moment you do the thing that makes you most proud. Imagine me watching your greatest achievements, the things you've worked hardest for, and imagine the admiration and awe that I feel as you accomplish your goals. But also think of me beside you at the moment when you're at your lowest, when you've lost your hope and everything you fight for seems unreachable. Imagine me seeing all of your weakness, witnessing your failures, knowing all of your secrets----and loving you still. You specifically. You, my past lover, my friend, my teacher, my son. You, who I may never have the honor to meet. I love you. I respect you. I mean it.
Sometimes men fear that the word "feminist" is a bullet aimed right at them. I could never take aim at you, you who are my lovers, my friends, my children. I am a feminist because in this culture we are not all free to fulfill our destinies. We are put into categories based on our religions, our skin color, our gender identity---all of these things that don't have anything to do with our hearts and our souls reaching their potential. The categories hurt you too. I can't bear to see you hurt, or to see your daughters and sons hurt, to see your future husband or wife hurt. I can't stand by and let you feel worthless because you've lost your job, or be strung up on a fence to die because someone hates gay people, or left in prison with your future crushed because of racist drug laws. Feminism fights for you too. Even if you can't believe this, then think of me as fighting for your daugher, your mother, you sister, your wife. When the women you love are safe and happy, aren't you much safer and happier too?
I know that you care about women. I have been nurtured and supported by so many more men than have ever tried to hurt me. When you hear of men who do harm there is one common reaction---
"I'll cut his fucking balls off".
You are allies in my fight, not my enemies. I count you as some of my strongest supporters. I love your concience, your sense of justice, and I love your willingness to back it up with words and actions. I love your jokes when I'm taking things too seriously.
But I love you even if you make mistakes. I forgive you for the times when in a moment of foolishness or selfishness or drunkenness you did wrong. I have done wrong too. I have hurt you with my foolishness and my fickle emotions. How could I refuse to grant you forgiveness when I am also guilty?
I love you for who you are and for the ideals you hold about who you want to become in the future. I will fight beside you as long as you don't underestimate my strength. I will come to you in the night and show you my secrets. I will learn from you.
I will remember that your power is nothing to fear if you grant me the same favor.

I never considered myself a feminist, but I always loved and agreed with this post, along with everything else Spike wrote. She was 100% awesome.

Spike ruled/rules. She was also one of the big reasons I kept coming around Uber in the early days. I'd downgrade you for ripping off her stuff, buuuuuuuut, since she never comes around anymore, and because you are giving props to an UberGoddess who actually deserves much more credit than she gets (nowadays anyway), have a +2.
