I just got back from visiting the Black Hills of SD and these are a few pictures of the area.
1. Bear Butte. This is one of the most sacred mountains to the plains indians. There's so much history surrounding Bearu Butte that I can not do it justice here.
2. Bridal Viel Falls, Spearfish Canyon. If you ever get to the Black Hills you should definitely drive up the canyon. This is just one of many cool sites to see.
3. Roughlock Falls, Spearfish Canyon. There is a larger set of falls behind this one that is quite awsome but you can't get anywhere near it now due to some stream reclemation project.
4. This is the view from the Cement Ridge fire tower just over the border in Wyoming. You can see into five states from here on a clear day. Definitely worth the drive.
5. When we left the house this morning it was nearly 90, when we got to the location of this picture it was 54. Holy temperature swing batman! Made for a cool picture though. The white stuff on the ground is hail, there was a lot of it.
6. A shot of the badlands, very cool place to visit just make sure to bring some water.
7. Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls SD, Tried to blur the water and it ended up a little overexposed but still very cool.

Pretty Pictures. Where/ what is SD?
South Dakota.
It's true that it probably looks flat compared to other mountain ranges but that's only because the Black hills are one of the oldest mountain ranges around. I also agree that the low population improves the scenery especially when you know where to go to escape the tourists.

yes, Bear Butte's name was a great source of amusement to me and all of my friends growing up. there was a new underwood near there that we called new underwear to go with bear butte.
