Maybe it's just me, but what the funk is up with everyone writing open letters these days?
I just think Open Letters are a little passe and carry too much expectation on the author's behalf. Sure, the phrase sounds kind of cool and sophistocated, but I got news for you... no one is going to write you back about it so you might as well call it something else entirely. Maybe a Closed Letter would be more apropro, no? Perhaps a Bitch Slap Memo, depending on the tone of the note? Hmm, I wonder if those types of communicae exist.
My point is further illustrated with this open letter right here. No one is going to e-mail me, write me, phone me, send smoke signals to me, float a message in a bottle to me, skywrite, fly a banner behind a hot air balloon, or even attempt psychic messaging regarding the content of my letter.
So why did I bother calling it an open letter, you ask?
To grab your attention, of course. And why would I want that disgusting thing?
Because I want to tell you the list of people that made it into UberMadness III. It's a celebration, bitches!

Notes:
There are still two wildcards to be chosen. There are 8 spots left open for first round byes to the top seeds. That means there are 120 competitors in total for UM III.
We are working feverently on the bracket, and won't have the results until Bob and MickGinny get back with the Norweigan Book of the Dead that was rumoured to be hidden in the depths of Shlongy's Nose. Of course, there is the possibility that it got tranfered to Mrs. Shlongy's Ass while they were engaged in a 69, so I sent the more than eager Circe and Filthy to cover that base (and what a base it is!).
With the Norwegian Book of the Dead in our hands, we will be able to convert the list of seeds into the almighty bracket. Without it, the bracket would look like gibberish scrawled by an arthritic chimpanzee, and then pooped upon by a dissentric emu.
No one wants that.
Either way, we are on schedule to start this thing THIS FRIDAY, JULY 15th!
Just wanted to let all of you know that.
I'll be posting with the rules restated and everything else you'll need to know once we have the bracket together. Should be tomorrow unless I decide to get drunk. Kind of hard to avoid the parties where I live right now.
I know this isn't particularily interesting information, but you guys are starting to piss me off with your non-stop e-mails, with nude camwhores attached, asking when the next update is going to be. HERE IT IS SO KNOCK IT OFF! (Whoever that was with the whipped cream titties, I love you. Send more).

It was the hilarity of the situation that made me awesome, jokingly, not that I got in.
I think that it's reasonable to kick me out, becuase it only influenced my participation and not his. Consider that he wasn't let in on the basis that I wrote that, while I was. You shouldn't neccessarily kick me out; it's your judgement as to whether or not it is beneficial to the integrity of the tournament to let me remain. I really hope you don't kick Darko out. I never considered that he'd be a target as well when I said that.

it's taking a long time because there are more steps this time around. It's not just sign up, get seeded, off you go.
There was work that had to be put into the voting system, then we had to filter it, then we had to give time to people to write original submissions, then we had to rank those...
As you can see, this is just taking long because of all the additional steps. Plus, because it's the first time we're doing it this way it will take that much longer because of the learning curve associated with a new process.
It's going to start Friday.
Hold onto your suggestions because we will be revisiting how everything worked or didn't work in UM III for setting up UM IV.

First copy I could find. I think it's the one put out by Penguin Publishing. The actual book by itself is very short, and I know that choosing the right translator and publisher will effect some of it, but not much. Mostly just effects what is added to is (essays, notes within, etc).
I've read the Denma (sp?) translated version before and really enjoyed it. I have never read the actual copy I sent out, however, so I can't really comment on it.

Per your request:
Q-
As much as I hate to say it, Japanese companies are a good place to start for automotive engineering. You won't have the level of responsibility that you're capable of handling, but if you're thinking entry level position they will pay you a little more starting out. Hang with it for a year or two. After one year, they'll probably be paying you LESS than you're worth. That's when you could consider moving on. Japanese companies love to hire entry level non-Japanese staff. They pay them the bare minimum for as long as that individual will take it, then when you inevitably leave they replace you with another entry-level engineer. I would recommend that you target companies who are in the product line you're interested in. It makes the next move a lot easier. Of course, if you have a winning personality you could become a 'Sales Engineer' and deal with whiny customers all the time. A lot of mechanical engineers also work in Quality, Manufacturing (process/equipment/tooling) Engineering, as well as Program Management (responsibility for ensuring timely development of new launches). And like with your degree as it relates to the institution, having a big name on your work history is very good. Working 5 years at Denso is a lot more impressive to potential employers than working 5 years at some $12MM/year stamping firm working in a pole-building. You really need to ask yourself whether you want to be a product designer or production-line/mfg engineer. I don't recommend a Quality Engineer or Program Management position because you will be vastly overworked. If it were me, I'd choose product engineer although again, you may be limited in opportunity by the particular product line you choose. Try keeping it general like 'stamping', 'tubing', or 'plastic molding'; not specific like 'engine mount engineer' or 'flywheel counterweight designer'. And for stability's sake, you might want to target companies who have a significant portion of their business with the "New-domestics" aka "Transplants" or "Japanese Automakers". Good luck.
