------------------------------------------
It's been seven months since Angela was fired. Today, she came back.
She was dressed rather moderately. Nice hunter-green skirt, neatly-ironed white blouse, brown hair down with a slight curl. Conforming, with just a hint of individualism. It is just the way the corporation likes it, which was important to her today. She just wanted to fit in and get by. She just wanted to do her job and collect her paycheck.
She walked into the elevator, filled with four other corporate-drones she didn't recognize. No matter, they didn't recognize her either. She pressed "3" and clutched her briefcase with both hands.
Deep breath. Count to 7. Relax.
After the elevator stopped at the second floor for two of the others, Angela made her way out of the elevator on her floor. She had to ring the doorbell to get into her floor, because they deactivated her code to get past the minor security clearance. No matter - they never check for ID anyway. Anyone could get into this place. The code was, at best, an annoyance for the firm, in its ultimately futile strive for security.
The person who opened up the door was recognizable, but gave no heed to Angela. He obviously didn't remember her, probably because he never cared in the first place. A small fire burned in Angela, but she paused and returned to her cool, collective demeanor. She headed for room 317.
She gave a short knock on the door, and the man inside, already talking, yelled at her to enter. He was on the phone, too busy to even see her enter and close the door behind her. She sat down and busied herself with items in her briefcase. After she obtained what she wanted, she waited patiently.
Her former boss finally got off of the phone and turned to his visitor. "Angela! What brings you back? How did you get in without a badge?"
Angela just displayed a nervous smile as her heart pounded with adrenaline. She knew what she came to do. This was the final wall to scale. She closed her eyes. All the happenings of the past seven months flooded her mind. The firing. The bills, piling up. Her inability to pay for them, and the shame of declaring bankruptcy. Her depression, and all the ways of coping with it. All HIS fault. If he never had fired her...
Angela's eyes opened, with the fire and rage of one possessed. The man just sat there with a confused look on his face. She quickly lifted the silenced pistol and shot the man 3 times in the chest. A wave of emotions filled her, from disbelief to satisfaction, from regret to hate. She became aware of her surroundings, as even a silenced pistol would be cause for alarm. She returned the pistol to her briefcase and took note of the two other pistols, not silenced - just in case. Angela opened the door of room 317, a much changed woman.
Angela thought she deserved better. The blame always has to fall on someone.

"...but that is the risk you take when you work for a cosmetics company."
YOU'RE GHEY.
--------
despite the -2 YOU'RE GHEY comment, I shall not lower myself to your level, and comment on your profession, instead, I shall rate the post accordingly..... (although, giving me a -2 was probably worthy of the post.... maybe a -1 on a good day)

I almost didn't read this because the title didn't catch me, but I hate to think that happens to me a lot. Nice though.
