Well uber, I just got back from my vacation. 5 glorious days off! YAY! Believe me I needed it. After working it out, I figure I probably saved the lives of at least 5 people who I was ready to kill before leaving, in addition to the faceless others who would've faced my wrath at work if I had to be there one second longer. Okay, not really a wrath- I like to think I'm scary though. So 2 wonderful nights in Whistler, drinking sangria and bumming around the village were good for me, and then on my birthday (yay) we headed into Vancouver for the Vans Warped Tour.
Let me tell you, and strangely without sarcasm, I couldn't think of a better way to spend my birthday than being surrounded by sweaty people, getting the shit kicked out of myself, and moshing to bands (most of which, I didn't particularly like). For punk enthusiasts, myself not included, the line-up was great. I have to say however, that I did enjoy thrashing about to The Offspring, Dropkick Murphy's, The Transplants, and Avenged Sevenfold. My kid brother came along, and seeing how he's 17 and had never been to a concert before, I couldn't exactly let him avoid spending some time in el mosh pit. We waited patiently for The Offspring, and after worming our way into the crowd, we positioned ourselves next to a nice (mean), quiet (rowdy), and small (large) group of shirtless guys with more tattoos than skin - one being a large picture of Satan on a motorcycle with "I will fuck you up" written in Old English above it.
The band played everything off of their Smash album (the only album of theirs I ever bothered buying), and were great. I hoisted body surfers, got punched in the side (and winded) by some fucker, fell onto the ground and got trampled until someone felt sorry for me and helped me up, and just had a wonderful time. There's just something about the adrenaline, the rush, that makes it all worthwhile. I didn't even mind having my sunglasses smashed into three pieces. It was the only time throughout the whole day that my brother admitted to having a good time. We emerged, covered with sweat (only half of which was our own) and burnt to a crisp - sun in Vancouver????.
There were also some seriously freaky people there too if, like me, you like people watching. One guy walked around for the entire day wearing nothing but black mesh and a gas mask. The fucked up hair everywhere was great...although it was apparent to me that none of these people could ever find gainful employment with the exceptions of working in a punk shop or washing car windows at red lights.

Avenged Sevenfold is fucking amazing. Synyster's solos are out of this world. i try to learn a couple new Avenged Sevenfold songs a month. Zacky Vengeance's part, of course, because i will never be able to play Synyster's stuff. but i don't really have the time to practice playing guitar as much as guys that are that good.

I once considered getting my nose pierced but the fact of having a huge hole on the side of my face everytime I removed the stud was most inappealling.
And you wouldn't want to spoil my face with a hole. lol.
