ATTN GHEY COMPETITORZ!
There are approximately 24 hours left for you to compose and submit your round one ubermadness posts. Remember, they are due at 12:00 pm, aka. Noon, Ubersite time, THIS TUESDAY JULY 19th.
Just click 'submit', and you will see a link with your round one title in it that will direct you to a page where you can submit your entry.
So far, only 7/55 slated matches have been submitted in full. One of those contains a DQ! VOTE TO FIND OUT WHICH ONE!
If you're not competing, I have to say that there are some very good stories out there, so take your time to vote, or read them at the very least.

My guess all along has been 15-20 no show forfeits...
Now, that might mean there are 3 or four TOTAL forfeits, too...
But GOD I hope not... A bye in Round two is just unfair as fuck.

also, will there be a secondary competition for the slots left by total forfeits? it seems fairer to offer a second chance to first round losers, than to allow second round byes for a lucky few.

I tend to agree with the above.
I got my title early Saturday morning,(even though it was available friday), and then had no access until today. I wrote my submission today and although it sucks, it is up there.
My work days change weekly so I will have more time on some deadlines than others.(Not that I am gonna make it past round one anyhoo).
I say leave it as it is for this time and take what comes from it out and appl it for UM4.
Just my two cents.

I can't properly respond to this post without giving anything away.
If I have not posted yet, it is because I'm usually busy on the weekends and don't have a lot of downtime for either writing or screwing around on my computer. In that case, I vote for posting during the week and voting on the weekends.
If I have posted then the ones of you who have not are a bunch of pathetic slackers who need to get their shit together.

Pentameters idea is pretty good. Besides, as the rounds go on, there will be less submissions for people to vote on so I think that one weekday and one...weekend-day?
What do they call it? Because a weekend is technically Saturday and Sunday, so what is just one of those days?

But then again, if you change it so that the writing is during the week, and the voting is during the weekends, that may also be a problem. Everyone knows that Ubersite is practically dead on weekends, which means a lot of people won't vote.

Yeah, that's true. How about having writing Sunday through Thursday, and then voting on Friday, and Saturday?
Sunday is usually a down day for most people, so putting the titles up then gives you a whole day to write with a few days to polish. Then you can vote on Friday, when most people are at work and Saturday for those who aren't or who like to dick around on Uber over the weekend.
It's summer. I'm not around most weekends, and I'm assuming most people aren't either. For instance, I basically only have one day to write since I was gone over the weekend.
There has to be a way to set this up so that it would be at least somewhat fair for everyone involved.

Indeed it is. I think the two week format is too long, in the sense that the overall competition fells like it begins to drag a bit at the end. Hence why we are trying this one week per round format.
However, if it is going to be too difficult to get their entries in, or vote for that matter, what is the point?
We have to find the balance for UM IV.

As I have said before, I agree with Kre8rix on the schedule. I won't have access to a computer on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, which means if I make it to the second round, I will get my title on Monday and will have only a day and a half to write.
