Mr. Rove is alot of things. He is, as I'm sure everyone is aware of, one of the single best, most feared, and most well known political consultants to ever grace American politics. Now, I don't agree with the man's politics, but I will say, if he could get a monkey into office, he's damned good at what he does. Too good maybe? Well yeah, I'm sure under that crusty old shell he's actually Satan, but that's another post.

He has been in the news quite a bit lately, but what for? Well, truth be told, I can't really say at the moment. The press doesn't know jackshit, and the Bush administration is doing what it's always done with this kind of information and kept it to themselves.
The general consensus however, is that Rove may or may not have leaked information regarding a CIA agent, resulting in a ruined career and possibly endangered lives.

What's funny to me is: why am I not on fire about this one? I think it could just be that I'm no longer surprised by the shit that Bush's people pull, but it could also be that it's 1:15AM after a busy day. We'll see.

So where does this go. Rove leaked information, endangered one of the people his boss is suppossed to protect(and by suppossed to, what I really mean is sworn) and the American people aren't really up in arms over this one. Nope, we're pretty much just sitting around with our thumbs up our collective butts.

(Okay, the Dr. Pepper/adrenaline mix is starting to take affect)
(Wait for it...)

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!
Shouldn't this be important? Think for a second. A CIA agent did something that the President's top aide didn't like, so he endangered peoples' lives. C'MON! He has overstepped so many lines it's sickening.
He's taking powers that he has no right too. He's breaching the Separation of powers! King George V is becoming a reality and no one is stepping up to stop him. We're all just letting it happen.

And if I'm wrong...I hear you ask. Doesn't matter. It's not the issue. The issue isn't one agent or an aide. It's the Powers of the American President, and the American people.

There's no outcry. How saddening. It seems we've stopped caring. Are we so apathetic or have we just become numb to it all. The abuse of power, the wrongdoing, the lies? Did we just stop giving a damn after watergate?

Seems like it. What a pity.

And while I'm at it, there's a law that just passed in California that requires that all bullets be numbered and serialized.
If I have to tell you why this is wrong than it's probably too late for you. As for those who live in California and understand what is wrong with this, well, and I say this with no alterior motives or intentions, but you might want to stock up. Just a thought. As for the rest of you, well, you're screwed.

He is a traitor, and as such, should be imprisoned.

Why? It's a non-issue.

If he is found guilty of any crime, throw him in prison.

If he is not, don't

What's the big fucking issue?

--------------

The big fucking issue is that Rove is Bush's head advisor, and he has been caught leaking information in order to punish those who expose the administration's deception.

The fact that he endangered a CIA agent is almost insignificant in comparison.

Well, if he's found guilty, shouldn't he be put to death?

It is wartime, and outing a CIA agent is still considered treasonous, no?

The issue is that Bush owes both terms to Karl Rove. If it comes out that Rove did something wrong, he will, at worst, serve until the end of Bush's term, at which point he is pardoned.

What I fear is that as soon as an indictment becomes imminent (assuming it does), Bush will pull a Ford and pardon Rove for any crimes he may have committed. That's the kind of unquestioning loyalty Bush demands from his people and the kind that I think he would return to some.

This is ridiculous to read. It has not even been determined if a crime has been committed. That's what a grand jury hearing is for.

As I understood it, and correct me if I'm wrong, the Agent's husband is a Democrat as well as an open Bush-basher and that's the speculation as to why this has happened. The woman, as it's been told all over the news, was an Overt operative for some time and was named because of her husband's actions, not her own. The best part about the fact that she was not covert is that even if she was, it's being reported that everyone that's ever known her while she's been in the CIA knew that she was in the CIA from her own admission.

The problem, rad, is that they won't throw him in jail. He'll lose his job as the President's aide, and be picked up by someone else with less dangerous secrets. But if he doesn't serve time, then he's setting an example and a precedent for others to follow.

I so totally agree with the serializing the bullets thing.

If I shoot someone, I don't want the police to be able to tie me to the crime.

I agree that this should be a much bigger issue in the US.

The thing of it is, is that there is a place to air grievances in the American system, whereas in other forms of government you would just be stuck holding the bag.

Checks and balances exist in our system; there is only one place it is off balance, and it is not in the Executive Branch.

Marbury v. Madison (1805) opened the way for judicial review, but unfortunately did not place a check and balance on this new power afforded the judicial branch, and in the last 200 years has gotten way out of hand.

The only power a President has in this country, the only true lasting power, is that of nominating someone to the Supreme Court.

The president is not, and will never be king.

The Justices can, and will.

it's a fact of life. Human nature.

It is a problem that we will always face in any governmental system we could possibly create.

There will always be bad people in power somewhere.

Try to understand, no one is asking for protests. (And that's not due to the fact that protestation never accomplishes anything) What I'm wondering about is why this is simply not a bigger issue.

And as for you saying that this is not the first time this has happened, well, no shit. But that's part of the fucking problem. So why don't you care? Why do you permit this?

An investigation is being conducted.

Let them do their jobs. The American pubic doesn't need to go hold protests everytime something happens.

You really think, that if this is true, this is the first, or last administration to pull this?

The "George V" allusion is misleading, checks and balances exist still whether or not someone violated them is the point.

And for god's sake, you would have a shitload more credibility if you could spell the guy you are hanging in effigy's name correctly.

Christ, Jack was right about you liberals not really knowing your issues and just mouthing off whatever talking points the last moveon.org person filled your empty heads.
