Yesterday, my brother asked me if I would go to his son's little league baseball game. Since I had a bit of free time after work, I decided I'd show up for a little while. It was a typical little league game. Painfully boring. But, I had to cheer my nephew when he stepped up to the plate or made a good play in the field. You know, the stuff you'd never do if you weren't related to the kid.

Anyways, around the fifth or sixth inning, I heard some disgruntled rumblings from the small crowd. When I looked around to find what was aggravating the crowd, I saw a kid standing a few feet away from the dugout, holding his batting helmet in his hands, with a beat red face. The kid was crying. And, standing next to him was his loud, angry father. In between his fits of yelling, the father would smack the kid upside the face.

There are a lot of things that I can tolerate, but one thing that doesn't sit well with me is cruelty toward children. So I walked up to this guy, and very calmly asked him "Why are you smacking your son?"

"You got a problem?"

"Yeah, why are you smacking your kid?"

"None of your business, punk."

I tried reasoning with him. He seemed relatively indignant throughout the conversation, but I felt that I was making progress. When I felt that had given him a good piece of my mind, and that he wouldn't act a fool for the rest of the game, I left. I sat down, and maybe two or three minutes later, I heard this little exchange of words:

"This'll teach you to cry."

"Ow! Don't !"

"Stop screaming. You're drawing too much attention to yourself."

I looked over to make sure I wasn't just hearing things, and I saw the kid holding his batting helmet over his face, while his dad stood there yelling. I walked over to the kid, took the batting helmet away from him, walked up to the dad, and cracked him upside the head with the batting helmet with enough force to shatter the helmet (which is designed to protect people from 85 mph fastballs). When he hit the ground, I hit him in the head again for good measure. Needless to say, he was a bloody, unconscious mess. I got a loud ovation from the parents. I have to say, that felt pretty good and rewarding.

I wanted to just give you a +1 for misspelling 'you.' That's pretty stupid. But I agree with your message, so +2.

Well, you should have brought it to the coach's attention.
I coach softball, and any parent ever smacked on of my players, I would fuck that guy up - then call the police and have him arrested for assault.

Yes, I really hit the guy. He deserved it. If he trys to press charges, I have about 30-40 witnesses that would probably be willing to testify that I did it in order to protect that kid. That seems like a solid defense to me.

Physical discipline is at times an effective method of getting the point across, but I don't agree with with repeated public humiliation for children. Fuck adults. There's got to be a balance between the kid-beating parents and the parents that let their kids beat them. Either extreme should not be allowed to reproduce.

I agree with the message, though. Abuse of women and children makes baby jesus cry when he sees what i'm imagining doing to the offenders.

Personally I'm with Jack Dee, children are like foreign tourists. Violence and shouting are the only forms of communication they understand.

You should have kicked him, too. A couple of times. People who hit their kids deserve it all, and worse.

Damnit! "Why are YOU smacking that kid!" Damnit!

You see, there are some crybabies out there -- religious types mostly
-- who might be offended. If you are one of them, I advise you to
turn off your set now. C'mon, I dare you. Bock-bock-bock-bock-bock!
