Life as they new it was a vile and detestable existence. It is said that once, man ruled the planet, he had control over all things, plants, animals, and even the robots. Many years had passed, since man was last in control, there wasn't a man or woman alive that could still remember the time before the robot siege.

Two men stood together on a balcony, overlooking the sea of chrome humanoid bodies, perfectly still as they were addressed by the Emperor, the language of course was silent, and they had long ago evolved from the need to audibly voice any communication.

Friend, please allow me to tell you the story of your people as well as I know it. It is up to you to make your decision when you have heard me out, but please be aware that any decisions carry consequences, and the wrong choice may result in the genocide of every single human on the planet. The weight of choice is heavy, but please hear my story.

From what we're told, it was a violent and sudden upheaval centuries ago. For many years the robots were merely servants to the humans, tools to make everyday life even better. Now however, it is us as their servants, merely out-dated inefficient drones only kept alive as servants to the robot lords, a symbol of the superiority of the robots, to both them and the rouge squadrons of freedom fighters, who over the last century have kept alive the hope that someday, the robots would be overthrown.

My name is Alec, and I've been sent to recruit you. There are many like us, we live mostly in tunnels below the surface, but as time goes on, our numbers dwindle. We have come to the point where if something isn't done soon, we will be unable to sustain ourselves, and the robot lords will have won.

They already assume that you have been broken. I hope that they are wrong and that once again they have underestimated our strength and will. My friend, I know that what I have told you may go against everything you've been led to believe. I am here to offer you the chance to help your people, and defeat your captors in one strike. You will be the key to the revolution, you can be our savior.

I know this is much to take in, I know how difficult this must be for you, but I'm afraid I need an answer now. Before you make your decision though, friend, I have been instructed to have you take a name, a name to express your individuality, your humanity.

The man stared silently, as the thoughts rampaged through his head. What would he do? Could he betray his masters? Could he really be the savior of humanity?

"Alec, my name will be Julius, but I am afraid I cannot help you. I fear for my life, and the life of my family, and although we may be slaves, we have each other, I cannot risk their lives.'"

"I understand" Alec replied with a remorseful look on his face.

"I must report back to my commander. Good luck Julius."
As Julius turned to return to his life of servitude, Alec pulled a large curved blade from his cloak, and silently slit Julius' throat. As the body collapsed, and the blood pooled around Alec's feet "Any decisions carry consequences." he whispered "I'm sorry friend."

Julius was not the first, nor would he be the last to fail to rise above being a lowly servant of the robot lords, but the freedom fighters could not be compromised by a slave spilling secrets to his master. It was their belief that it was better to be free in death, than a slave in life, and so it would continue.
