That's "Lucky Man," the Emerson Lake and Paul song for anyone who doesn't know. If you don't, then Google that shit right now. I'm not even kidding.
This is the kind of song that makes you think about stuff.
So I started thinking about "Hot Coffee." I don't even own a copy of the game, but I know what it is. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you know, because you live under a rock up in the mountains or something, then go ahead and look it up on just about any media outlet in the continental US. Probably the UK too for that matter. I don't see it as being a big issue anywhere else though.
So, is it really a big issue. Basically there's a sex scene in a video game that already contains graphic depictions of drug trafficing, cop killing, mob hits, prostitute beatings, pimping, gambling, and every other vice known to man. So what's one more?
Then there's the point of RockStar deliberatly decieving that normally useless entity that is the ratings board. It's true, in order to properly modify the game so as to view the aforementioned scenes one actually does have to go to considerable lengths(depending on platform), but it's still there. (And really, who's going to all this trouble to see pixilated boobies?)
I'm still divided on the issue. I know it's been discussed on Uber already, but since I didn't go back and reread all the old posts, I want to ask now.
So here are my questions:
A. Is this even an important issue? Does it really matter and do you give a damn?
B. Should Rock Star games be punished? Should their publisher? The publisher is Take-Two I believe. For those wondering, they've worked with Rock Star before, but have a cleaner track record.
There was a third question, but if you check the website, the rating of the game has already been changed from M(mature 17+) to Ao(Adults only 18+) (Way to go guys, that'll show 'em)
So question C is for anyone who is currently or recently been under the age of eightteen;
have you ever had a problem obtaining a copy of a game rated M without having your parents know about it?
Discuss.
