Yielding to the last Dawn
It was several years ago, thirteen to be exact, when he first laid eyes on Dawn. She was a cute little thing, liked sports and always was there when he needed her. First kindergarten, then elementary school before Dawn's father got a promotion and had to pick up the family and move out of state. They had just finished 4th grade. Dawn was his first crush, albeit at a tender age of eight. Johnny was devastated when he learned that she was moving, but there was nothing he could do to stop it. Johnny met other girls over the next few years, but there was no one who captured his attention like Dawn.
As Johnny strolls out of his mother's car, he looks around and can't believe what he sees. Cute girls, wearing short squirts and low cut tops, things he's used to only seeing in magazines. One in particular catches his eye, and with a subtle turn of his body, has her on target lock.
"Damn is she cute", he murmurs to himself
Johnny takes a few strides down the newly paved sidewalk. As he slowly approaches her, he can feel his heart beat just a little faster. Less than ten feet away, his mouth starts to dry up.
Not sure of what to say, Johnny blurts out, "First day for you too?" before realizing that this is the first day for everyone at Evergreen High.
"Um, yeah I think we all get to start on the same day, at least that is what I was told"
Liking her response he adds, "Hi, I'm Johnny, you are?"
"I'm Dawn, and I noticed you were checking me out, but don't worry your not alone".
Johnny thought this was a little pretentious, but damn if she didn't look good in her tight jeans. Not knowing what to say next, he reached in his pocket and grabbed a folded piece of paper.
"I hope we are in some of the same classes, I have second lunch, what about you?"
Dawn stares Johnny in the face and says, "You're worried about being in the same lunch? For your information, I don't plan on sticking around for lunch in this rat infected hell hole" and with that, walks away.
Love at first sight...that is all Johnny could think about as he hurried through the doors, not quite beating the blaring sound that only a High School bell could produce.
It took Johnny almost the entire first semester, but he eventually wore down Dawn for their first kiss. It occurred during the first home football game for the Rough Riders, a team Johnny could only dream about playing. It was baseball, a path chosen by his mother for fear of injury. When it came to football, the Rough Riders were the only team for Johnny and the rest of students at Evergreen High.
"Hey Dawn, were you able to sneak that Bacardi out of your mom's house?"
"shhhhh, you know that if I get caught again I'm in some serious trouble. Now take this and meet me by the tennis courts...and Johnny, could you tuck in your shirt, you look a mess."
It wasn't that Dawn treated Johnny poorly, she just had a different style about her. Dawn grew up in a small town and was the most popular girl as a youngster. She won a beauty pageant at the age of ten, and quickly matured well beyond her years.
Johnny heads for the tennis courts, bag in hand before Principle Leonard stops him dead in his tracks.
"Heading somewhere special son?"
"No sir, I just have to meet a friend who grabbed something for me. I'm going be late"
"Well slow down Johnny, we don't want to have any accidents"
Johnny's heart is beating faster than ever before. Sweat starts dripping down his brow. His hands are shaking, knowing that if Principle Leonard asked to look in the bag, he'd be dead meat. His scrawny legs start churning, making a beeline for the unlit tennis courts.
"It's about time, why are you always so slow at everything" Dawn say as she grabs for the bag Johnny has clenched firmly to his chest.
"Let go, what's wrong with you. You look like you saw a ghost or something".
"Are you sure we should be doing this Dawn, we could get in a lot of trouble".
"Stop being such a pansy".
Dawn opens up the bottle and pours it in a glass. She then adds Pepsi and gives it a quick stir.
"Here, taste this"
Johnny takes a small sip. "Not bad, good job"
"No shit good job, I make these all the time"
They both quickly finish their drinks, and then another before Dawn starts up again.
"So Johnny, I'm starting to get a little drunk. I say we play a game"
"What did you have in mind?"
"Truth or Dare, I'll start"
"Who was the first girl you had a crush on" Dawn asks as she takes a sip from her drink.
Johnny takes a second to think and responds with, "Her name ironically was Dawn, just like you, but that was like forever ago"
"Oh, so you have a Dawn fetish, how nice" she says sarcastically.
"O.K, it's my turn and I want to know if you like me" he asks proudly, knowing that only the consumption of alcohol would allow him the courage to be so bold.
"I'll take the dare" she quibbles back with.
Somewhat surprised at no answer, Johnny deliberates what his dare should be.
"You have to kiss me" he slurs out, alcohol clearly becoming a factor.
Dawn pauses briefly, contemplating this request before leaning in for their first awkward kiss. Even though this was a result of a dare, both Dawn and Johnny had been waiting for this moment.
"Let's get back to the game. We're going to miss kickoff" Dawn says hurriedly as she starts running back towards the field. Johnny follows behind.
[Next day at school]
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I wanted to start today with an introduction. We have a new student joining us and I want everyone to give her a warm welcome. Her name is Dawn and she'll be here in just a minute", says Johnny's English teacher Ms. Stone.
Johnny can't believe what he just heard. The new student is ANOTHER Dawn?
[Enter Dawn]
Dawn walks in with a shy smile, and turns to the class. "Hi guys, I'm Dawn"
Johnny looks her over and watches every step she takes as she sits down at the vacant chair right next to him. Now within reaching distance, Johnny offers his hand.
"Nice to meet you Dawn. You look so familiar, have we met before?"
"You don't remember do you? <short pause> Kick the can, playing outside well beyond reasonable light. I heard you were going to Evergreen High. I was so excited when Dad's company decided to move him back here. It's good to see you Johnny, really good!"
A stunned Johnny replies, "I can't believe it's you. It's been so long, what like five years. I'll have to show you around and introduce you to some people"
Dawn and Johnny spend whatever time they have in between classes catching up. It's not until the end of the day that the real problem arises.
"Dawn, meet Dawn" says Johnny
The two exchange hand shakes and give each other that look that only girls in competition give each other. Johnny picks up on the tension and chimes in with, "Well, I see we're all gonna get along just fine"
[Outside Evergreen High- After school] [Outside atrium]
"So Dawn, Johnny tells me you guys used to hang out together. Tell me, do you think Johnny is a good kisser?"
A somewhat shocked Dawn quickly answered, "Um, we never kissed. We were very young. Why do you want to know anyway?" asks a now frustrated Dawn
"Just curious! Don't get your panties in bunch girl, it's not like we're going out or anything"
This clearly was not how Johnny had envisioned the meeting of the Dawns would go. So many thoughts ran through his head but all he could hear was one Dawn bitching to the other. Although he didn't hear most of the argument, he did seem to catch the last question, which was directed at him.
"Johnny, you have to decide. Which of us do you like better?" asks the Dawn he just met in High School
"You both are special to me"
"Answer the question" says the other Dawn
"I'm going to have to yield to the last Dawn" says Johnny

It just Dawn'd on me (ugh) that having a writing contest during UM is not the best idea. It did force me to write something I would normally not do, but just too much going on.

This felt sloppy and messy and the ending seemed painful. On the bright side, by making it NSFW you gauranteed yourself at least 800 hits on this.

Use all your resources I always say. I could have tightened this up with more time but just didn't happen. I had an alternate ending I was going to use but it was worse than this one, if you can believe it.
