A better friend I never had, whether boy, girl or dog
and to this day I miss him still, yet onward still I shog.
Sands of time have buried the pain, of a young life's greatest loss
but never will his memory fade, nor over his face shall I gloss.
His actions were those of a king, a champion and a winner
and though I do not cry for him now, the void he left is no thinner.
Oh! to take him in my arms, to hug his neck, God! to kiss his face
I would never let him go I swear, after I had that first taste.
Seventeen short years he walked this earth and how did they define?
A man for sure in all his youth, his genius and his spine.
He stuck up for me, stood by me and thus respect he garnered
and now he is gone but for two short years, though it seems so very much longer.
Never since he left this life has his equal come along
and I think that it is safe to say no will who's quite as strong.
So finally now I say farewell, adieu, my greatest friend
you were one in a million in my book Josh, down till the very end.
