Why sleep when the day has been called out by the sun
From the night 'cause the light's gonna shine on everyone
Why sleep when the sleep only closes up our eyes
Why sleep when we can watch the sun a-rise
*

Lucy ran to the hill she knew so well, feeling the grass whipping her legs. By the time she was only half way to the top, the bottom of her pants were wet from the early morning dew. It was still dark, something she was grateful for. She loved to see the sun rise over the ocean, and that was what she was going to do today. This one last time.

*
We were meant to see the beginning of the day
I believe it was planned to lift us this way
Take you an apple and take you a song
And watch a baby day be born
Take you an apple and take you a song
Watch a baby day be born
*

As she neared the top of the hill she slowed down, knowing by the darkness of the sky that she still had time before the sun breached the surface of the water. She always imagined it that way, the sun swimming under the ocean, fighting for breath as the world fought against the darkness of night. Then, in an instant, it finally broke through, took its first amazing breath for the day and bathed the world in light.

*
Quite quite, said I that's all very well to say
But I rose before the dawn to your singing yesterday
I couldn't see the rising 'cause the dark was in my sky
I couldn't see the sun 'cause the sun was in my eye
*

Lucy sat down on the edge of the hill. To be honest it was more like a cliff, with a great dramatic drop to the ocean below. Lucy had always heard it referred to as 'The Hill' though, and so that was how she now thought of it. She let her legs hang over the edge, swinging them slightly in the chill wind.

*
Take you an apple and take you a song
Watch a baby day be born
Take you an apple and take you a song
Watch a baby day be born

Why sleep, I heard and I followed it today
To the top of the hill where the wind songs play
And I sing it like I heard it
Why I heard it who knows why?
Why sleep when we can watch the sun a-rise
*

A tear made its way down her face but was quickly brushed aside. The scene was beautiful. A young girl, soft hair blowing in the wind, legs swinging. She looked with innocence over the ocean. The sun broke through. A smile crept onto Lucy's face.

She slipped over the edge. The wind caressed her on the way down, toying with her hair and whispering in her ear. For a brief moment it almost seemed that the magic, the moment the sun gasped for its first breath, would keep her above the ocean. But that was not to be. She sunk below the waves, and the water drew her into its dark spaces, making her welcome, and letting her know she was loved. She smiled, as she let her final breath go. She would forever belong here.

*
Take you an apple and take you a song
Take back an answer to something gone wrong
Take back some music and take me along
And watch a baby day be born
Watch a baby day be born
*

You write something, I read it, I get a chubby. It's remarkable really. You could work in a peep show fully clothed, you'd just need to hold up big boards with your writing on.

You must come to England so I can reward you with my gorgeous arse and purty mouth.

I hear crabs and shrip (shrimpi? Shrimpum?) and junk eat all the dead stuff near the shore. I was terrified of crabs and shrimpses for years after my Dad told me they'll strip a body in the time between high and low tide.

I think he was fibbing.

But there's nothing to clean up, she jumped into an ocean, not onto something hard and stainable. Also, I'm sure sharks or something will eat her eventually. That happens a lot right? Maybe a dolphin.... Or a tuna

liked this.

although it does somewhat glorify the whole jumping off things thing...you don't mention the mess to clean up afterwards.who will clean it?
better to jump infront of a train, it's sure fire, it can break the train and they have actual people employed to clean the bodies off.
