I've been trying to sell my car for a few weeks in order to buy a VW Campervan. We plan to get the ferry to France and then drive around drinking wine, eating cheese and bothering the French.
Luckily, I sold the car yesterday, but not to the sender of the following email, sent to my husband. Does anyone else think that the person who wrote it is obviously a massive confidence trickster?

What dates are you going to be in France. I will be at eurodisney the 11-13th Aug
----
We will be there then. It's rather complicated at the moment though because we are in the process of buying the campervan, and we haven't planned at itinery yet (worst case scenario: the van will break down immediately and we'll have to stay in Brittany).
Email me your email cindypenney.at.gmail.com I'll keep you updated- we might be able to meet up for le bierre.

When I was young my parents had a VW campervan (which they had used to go around Europe, too). I have such fond memories of camping out in there. And that e-mail does sound fake.
Have fun!

The question is, are you clever enough to spot the con?
Or, are you going to be stupid again, like that time when you bought that ford KA?
Remember that time?

I guess someone must fall for it or they wouldn't bother.
You think they would get an English speaking person to check it over before they sent it. Clowns!
If only his phone wasn't broken I'd ring him up and give him a piece of my mind.

Have him send you payment.
Then go and cash the payment at the institution.
And never send the car.

These people scour ads for cars and then do exactly what Hadley said above. It's just like the Nigerian money scams.

You want 8k for a StreetKa so you can buy a VW camper?
Exactly what VW Camper are you thinking of?
More importantly what are you going to do with the remaining 7.5 grand, other than get full AA cover?
----
You'd be surprised how much they cost!
I looked at a couple at the weekend for around 5 grand and they were dirty and falling to bits- it's going to cost at least £7,000 for one that isn't fucked. I'm going to get one with a new engine, and yes, I have RAC cover!
Keep up, Standard Deviant- I no longer own a KA and it was a StreetKA anyway- an awesome car.

He was from Isreal. And his phone also didn't work. He too wanted to sort it out within one week.

Obvious trickster.
I'd say, without even looking at it.
There's websites set up, you may well find his details posted up on them. Google him.
Why not make this interesting. String him along for as long as possible. Play him at his own game. Post the results on Uber.
