What a round this has been!
Lots of drama and emotion on all ends of the spectrum, from all corners of Uber.
How about we work on putting the attention back where it deserves to be? That's on the authors and the great match-ups that are being produced!

The truth is that all of the entries deserve to be read, there are some real gems in this round. But if you don't have the time to read them all, put your attention towards these close battles at the very least, you won't be sorry.

However it turns out, whether or not we think the reasons were legitimate, I think we should just let this one slide. Honestly.
I've been more of a critic of the committee than anyone thus far, and at this point, I am willing to just let it go and try to have fun again. Let's just get back to a point where we can smile at a post and say 'good job'. Let's get back to the business of writing stuff that makes people think or laugh or cry...
We all know how UberMadness is. The rules are being made up as we go sometimes. Not everything is set in stone, and the contest has a lot of growing up to do still.
It's never going to be perfect, because noone is perfect...because everyone is human. We're all entitled to mistakes.
It's taken me a while to kinda remember that.
I've been a serious asshole to members of the committee, especially Q, and for that, I'm sorry.

We're not always going to agree on how things like this should be run. That's why there is a committee in the first place. They're there to make the tough decisions. While we might not always agree with them, as in the case of RandomJose for instance, I don't think that should ruin the contest for everybody forever.
RandomJose knows that we all know he should have won that round against Method, even though he was a serious underdog. He gets my props for that. I will remember him more for that probably than if he'd gotten through to the sweet 16 without a hitch.
I have every confidence he'll come back next time and kick some serious ass.
That's what we should all do. Let's just take a breath, accept whatever the committee decided on, and have some fun.

Corn, I think those will be DQed if it wasn't anything technical. They found AAE's first post and labelled it a techincal glitch. If it wasn't anything technical, I think the fact that the competitors submitted something will be taken into consideration, but I don't think it will stand.
We've all been through school. Some teachers just dock marks when assignments are late. Others lock the door when class begins. The committee has been leniant on other things in this contest. They have to come down on something or else the entire thing is spoiled for everyone.
Everyone knew the deadline. You can't help some technical things.

I was out of town from friday until Monday, I rushed rushed rushed to get my post done on time (which I DID). Had I KNOWN that I could have just asked for an extra day, I would have felt much better about my post.
Of all the things that have gone wrong in this UM, I think allowing late submissions takes the cake.
