The first round of D-Prime Madness is over, and as of this moment, Round Two officially begins. It's quite the coincidence that yesterday was my one-year anniversary for Uber, my 500-days for my current Xanga, and the day before the end of Round One of DPM. The quality and seriousness of the competition up to this point has been really impressive. Almost everybody posted and almost every post showed effort and got at least a 1 rating. I'm glad that this is going with the competitiveness and seriousness that I had originally planned. There were a few surprises, odd happenings and results, and the like. Here is an analysis of Round One, along with an updated bracket and the official Round Two match-ups/titles. Also, there were virtually no broken rules or debate about results, and that made every thing go much more smoothly in R1. I'd like to tell every one that I've already planned the system and dates for DPM2, which will take place in the fall and be relatively similar. I've also created the D-Prime Madness Cup to be awarded to the winner of each competition, who will have their name engraved into the image forever, or at least until I die and DPM ends, by which time I'd have bought Ubersite from Bart.

1 BillsBSChamps vs 16 Egadz 'Here we go again'

When DPM was first announced in May, Bill did not take it well, and actually called it 'the fucking gay one' among the different psuedo-writing competitions of the time. Then, when the idea was brought back a week ago, he actually decided to join him self. For that, he deserves congratulations. Unfortunately he was busy with other work, along with the death of a relative, and was only able to make a 'joke post' that would have been disqualified had he not lost. Even though he would have won any way, Egadz released a serious, well-taken post that ended up at 1.18, over Bill's 0.81 (though Bill would have been disqualified for lack of characters.) Egadz pulled off the upset, and the 16th/last seed advanced to Round Two, and Egadz officially takes Bill's first-place seed until (if) he's defeated.
2 Ainkara vs 15 Alex.Lifeson 'I never thought I'd have to say this'
Alex Lifeson came in with a point-rating of 0, having just joined Ubersite as my real-life friend, and as such was the second-lowest seed. Ainkara, one of the competition's favorites, released a serious, moderately-long post with a slightly over-sized image, and gathered a very successful rating of 1.6. AL, just yesterday, did an even shorter post with a small image, and despite a moderately successful 1 rating, was defeated by his extremely successful opponent. Ainkara advanced to Round Two.

3 Darko vs 14 Biznochizzle 'Remember when...'

Darko was sort of my 'right-hand man' for this competition. He was the one who reminded me of it and encouraged me to start it up last week. You'll find that Bizno, by the ranking-system, should actually be reversed with Mike. I changed this because I had moderate evidence that Bizno was an alter, likely Darko's (this was later confirmed.) I figured that if I was wrong, I wouldn't be doing any thing shameful, and this way the new but talented Mike would get a fairer opponent, and if Bizno was Darko's alter, Darko would be forced to have only one spot in the second round. Well 'Bizno,' though the account was banned, released a sexually-based comic that did well, through Darko (who is the same person,) and failed to defeat Darko's real post, 1.87 to 1.67. Again we have two close, highly-rated posts, but Darko officially advanced to Round Two... through his normal account and not his alter.

4 Nitty34 vs 13 Mike00295 'Finally!'

Mike released an extremely successful, hilarious (yet not overly-crude) post about a man with a giant penis who wants to finally share his problem with others and destroy the myth that a huge penis is a great thing. Nitty, seeing the immense awesomocity of this 1.92 post, despite being the higher-seeded member, formally resigned and did not attempt to defeat Mike. One should not consider this a forfeit-victory for Mike, because it was his awesome post that caused Nitty to resign out of good judgement. I personally predict a bright future for this low-seeded prodigy. Mike00295 advanced to Round Two.

5 Brdn_Nkd vs 12 RaineLark 'I hope you find it'

Both of these posts were one of the earliest DPM releases. Brdn_Nkd released a successful drama/detective-story with a red-splat (probably blood) image. This post was taken extremely well and received a perfect 2 rating. RaineLark made her own attempt which received a 1, and continued to endure in an attempt to salvage a win afterwards, even linking to her post on Uberboard. She made the tournament more competitive in doing so, but it was to no avail. Brdn_Nkd won and advanced to Round Two.

6 D_Prime vs 11 Vulva 'Pardon Me?'

I didn't know that this would be my title until minutes before I released them all to start Round One. I wrote mine that night, out of excitement for the tournament, and received a good, though mediocre on DPM standards, rating of 1. Vulva miscalculated the available time, decided that victory was impossible, and decided to formally wish me 'good luck in the next round' in a short psuedo-forfeit post with the name 'Pardon Me?' asking for mustard. No one gave any mustard, and though that is unfortunate, I guess that's what happens when you forfeit like that. Well, thank you for the wished luck, not that I need it; I drank a whole bottle of Felix Felcus before the competition started. Any way, I, D_Prime, officially advanced to Round Two riding a rating of 1.

7 Badassmofo vs 10 Xcuses 'Yields to the last Dawn'

Badassmofo's post was the next one to receive a perfect 2. It was about global war and eventually the forming of violent gender barriers and the psychological/technological problems involved. It was an eerie and fully successful post. Xcuses' attempt was quite successful its self, however, 1.58 is still less than 2. The only hope Xcuses had was the lingering possibility of a double-forfeit between Yermom and Slighty_Obnoxious, which would lead to the highest-ranked loser filling in. Xcuses was almost certain to get that position in this situation, but first we had to see whether or not Yermom and S_O both didn't post. Either way, Badassmofo advanced to Round Two with the 2 to 1.58 victory.

8 Yermom vs 9 Slighty_Obnoxious 'The Fusion'

Despite being on Uber and receiving a few reminders from me and Darko, neither competitor posted, so they formed the only double-forfeit. This means that the highest-rated loser would advance. This happened to be Xcuses, beating out Alex.Lifeson and RaineLark each by .58. Despite barely losing in the First Round, Xcuses' quite successful post ends up letting him advance.

*Que to Queen's 'Another One (or 8) Bites The Dust' (I actually keep on playing it)*

Now, Round Two begins. Through the 'filter' of Round One, the softies are now out, the mediocre-to-goods are out, and the competition is no longer 'whoever wanted to join is in.' This is when the REAL games begin. Round Two competitors have exactly seven days (one more than they did in Round One,) until next Friday night at exactly 9pm, to make a post that corresponds with their assigned title. Note that the messages in the square-brackets below aren't part of the titles, but my comments on each match. Round three officially begins Saturday evening, when the winners will be announced/calculated along with the official Round Three Match-Ups and titles. The simple game rules, which you are all probably already aware of, are on the previous DPM posts. Here are the updated bracket and the Round Two titles, along with an image of the all-sought-after D-Prime Madness Cup, the ultimate symbol of Uber writing ability.

Let the games continue.

Round Two Titles:

1 Egadz vs. 8 Xcuses 'Forgive and Forget' [Contest of the fortunate and lucky.]
4 Mike00295 vs. 5 Brdn_nkd 'Finish Him!' [The talented newb's next, more determined challenger.]
2 Ainkara vs. 7 Badassmofo 'They Rushed' [Match-up of the fair, conventional victors.]
3 Darko vs. 6 D_Prime 'Let's get started!' [Only one DPM official will remain.]

If there are any questions etc, comment here and I will answer them. If you aren't in this, remember to join DPM2 in the fall!

Hey, if you're a First Round out, so be it. That's why we have a First Round. Shit is inveitable, and instead of badly attempting to get rid of it completely (like with UM's voting,) I just set it up so that it all gets eliminated in the first round.

I'll give you a link when the sign-up post for D-Prime Madness 2. Comes out.

Okay.

I believe Ainkara is now slightly in the lead, seeing as I just +2d her.

However, in the event of a tie, the tiebreakers are as follows, as was put in the original rules:

1. Most +2s
2. Fewest -2s
3. Most Hits

I'm not going to release any information about DPM2, except what I've already let out, and that I predcit that there will be many more competitors.
