Up until yesterday if some one had said that green day had sold themselves out with the 'American Idiot' album I would have just said they were going in another direction (all be it a bit emo) and fair play to them, but not anymore.
They were supposed to be playing a few live songs at 'T in the park' (an open air concert here in Blighty). Were the fans allowed to watch? You'd think that was the point wouldn't you? But hell no they can't! They want to use some of the footage on their next DVD so people can't watch in case they then don't buy the DVD and they band have to make do with one fewer TV!
WTF?!
On the other hand they did hit the mark for me with 'wake me up when September ends' since my girlfriend decided she was going to spend the summer working in America and now isn't coming back until the end of September. arrgg!
So if any of you see a 21 y/o, blond, Brit girl wandering round Tennessee or Indiana in the next couple of months, keep your hands to yourselves and tell her to go home and make me a damn samich!
(By the way, if you hadn't already worked it out this is my first post, so go easy on me. Please.)

Why am I the only Green Day fan in the world who isn't a retard?
It seems that all the cool people who liked Dookie now exclusively like Classic Rock, and every one has forgotten about Good Riddance and Nimrod. All the current Green Day fans are whiney 12-year-old girls.

D-Prime, you might like this. Green Day played at The Night Owl, a BYOB basement club in Pensacola one night a few years back, and my friend, Morrie, got passed on top of the crowd to the stage. This was before Green D had gotten big, like, way back, anyway, the lead singer, i don't remember his name, he start's pulling Morrie's new shoes off- some "trendy cool" tennis shoes. So he gets one shoe off, and Morrie jumped on stage and started battling the dude to get his shoe back. They started swapping licks, real ones, the music stopped, people were throwing shit and yelling. All Hell broke lose for about 20 secs.
It was funny as fuck, and M was still after whatever his name is after the show. Real story.

Let me give you some pointers.
Writing about one small thing a band that a lot of people don't like did isn't very smart on an all-content site. Go find a Green Day message board.

It's okay to use big words. It's not okay to use big words that you don't know, such as albeit.

Oh, and what they did made perfect sense. Real fans will buy the DVD any way. This way psuedo-fans can't steal from them. They get more money and more capital is being put into producing more music and such. Every one wins except the psuedo-fans.

Most of them should know that BBD is filler, the first track of AI isn't that great and is more about the media than the gulf war, and the rest of the album isn't the generic 'my girl friend left me and now I'm going to kill my self' emo. It's a 'punk rock opera' that references things like growing up in the suburbs and learning to 'move on.' By the way, in track 12 when it talks about the guy killing him self, that's a metaphor because he gave up on that personality. You can tell there one character if you really listen to certain lines.
Also, why do people call bands sellouts because they become popular?
