To all who are sick of DPM (I think there are two): I don't care. We're enjoying it; it's serving its purpose as a serious alternative. Don't read about it. That it's big enough to have enemies is a testament to how successful it is; look at JFK. Now for all who are still here, chill out and watch (or participate in) the games!

At first there were 16.

And then there were 8.

And now there are only 4.

Four competitors remain in the ultimate contest of Uber writing skill. D-Prime Madness has reached Round Three and the *trumpet call* Final Four!

Hopefully, there will be more than 16 to start off with in DPM2, and it certainly looks like there will be. Another happy expectation that already has been fulfilled is a complete absence of forfeits in Round Two.

There will be two match-ups for this, the third round, and the Uber public will rate each submission. These ratings will decide which two members of The Final Four go on to the championship, and which two members go home... to their computer, to write against the other F4-loser for 3rd place.

Next competition 'D-Prime Madness II : Fall 2005' will have submitted-titles instead of ones made up off the top of some random individual's head, seeing as we will have more time. They will then be hand picked for the tournament by the most precise title-examiners, to ensure the highest quality. They will therefore be better than this tournament's, and if not, it won't be my fault. There's also another important change planned for DPMII, but to find out about that you must continue to read.

The updated Round Three Bracket is displayed below, along with the official Round Three titles (which, little does any one know, have been released since the beginning.) I cleaned the important information on the Bracket up a bit, so that it doesn't look extremely fuzzy having been turned into a jpeg over and over again. This second round seemed more exciting than the first round, with more close matches, drama, and excitement. Let's take a look. Here is an analysis of Round Two!

1 Egadz http://www.ubersite.com/m/72054 vs 8 Xcuses http://www.ubersite.com/m/72442 'Forgive and Forget'
This was at first considered 'the contest of the fortunate and lucky,' seeing as Egadz advanced because his highest-seeded opponent was not able to do a proper post, and Xcuses made it even though he lost in Round One, because he was the highest-rated loser and therefore went on to fill in for the only Round One double-forfeit. This was also the match-up to have two of the earliest posts. As we've become accustomed to, both posts were relatively successful and got above +1, but one of them was not enough. Xcuses' clever idea of making a non-fiction post about hatred on Uber got him the victory and a 1.57 rating over Egadz' story, which was dubbed 'emo' by reviewers, which received an average rating of 1.17. This was the first, but not the last example, of individuals dealing with the competitiveness of Round Two by doing something unconventional i.e. a non-story; this attempt, by Xcuses, was successful.
Xcuses advances to Round Three winning 1.57 to Egadz's 1.17.

2 Ainkara http://www.ubersite.com/m/72545 vs 7 Badassmofo http://www.ubersite.com/m/72461 'They Rushed'
These posts were both very well done. Ainkara stuck to convention, doing another serious, moderately-long story followed by an image, and again posting just before the deadline. Badassmofo did the opposite by creating a poem-like line-by-line epic that requires one to keep the title in mind while reading, followed by a quasi-emo image. Badassmofo posted first and was riding a rating of 1.8, when on Friday, just after Ainkara's post, ratings stopped coming in for each and it was tied at 1.8. At this moment, Uber-users such as my self and the DPMII-aspiring Rad, jumped to the scene to get attention back to these posts, and rated them repeatedly ourselves as to get the average rating we truly wanted them each to have (which was between the whole numbers available when rating only once.) In the end, after some controversy over BillBSChamps(First-seed Round One drop-out to Egadz)'s rating on Badassmofo's post as well as another that seemed to be irregardless of the content, which almost caused a motion for it to be disregarded, Ainkara stole an extremely slim victory winning 1.7 to 1.67. This destroys any chances of Badass and Xcuses going up against each other again in the finals, which would have been quite entertaining.
Ainkara advances to Round Three winning 1.7 to Badassmofo's 1.67.

3 Darko http://www.ubersite.com/m/72430 vs 6 D_Prime http://www.ubersite.com/m/72112 'Let's Get Started'
This was another close one. D_Prime, who happens to be me, feeling cocky after the Round One victory, was anxious to post and did so in the middle of the night after writing his story in about half an hour; surprisingly, the last for digits of the post number were named after the classic Rush album, which may be the greatest drum performance ever, by Neil Peart: 2112 (Anthem Records 1977.) The post about a teenager with bad parents going wrong was doing well after ratings slowed down and was riding a 1.57. Darko decided to try to take advantage of this odd title and did a post about NFL. He later said that I should have done one about the NHL, considering the title was good for it; he was probably right. After both posts got more attention, and a ton of re-rating, including some by my friend Alex Lifeson, my post fell to 1.11 and Darko ended up with a 1.19. I will now make all final decisions about the competition and any controversy personally because any potential bias is gone along with my participation.
Darko advances to Round Three winning 1.19 to D_Prime's 1.11.

4 Mike00295 http://www.ubersite.com/m/72311 vs 5 Brdn_nkd http://www.ubersite.com/m/72293 'Finish Him'
Mike's post about a depressed waiter didn't seem to be QUITE the riot that his one about the problems of having a large penis was, but it was successful just the same. It was good enough to beat Brdn_nkd's entertaining post about a mom porn star! And so, the suprising newb advances again, this time defeating a more determined opponent. Will he be able to pull off another wicked victory in Round Three and advance to the finals? Only time and your ratings can tell!
Mike00295 advances to Round Three winning 1.45 to Brdn_nkd's 1.08.

And now Round Three begins.

The remaining competitors have exactly six days, until 9pm on Friday night, to write and submit a post with their assigned title. In exactly seven days, one day after that, on Saturday night at 9pm the winners will be tallied and the final Round Four will begin! All particular rules, which all competitors have almost certainly already read, are on past D-Prime Madness posts.

Round Three Titles

1 Xcuses vs. 4 Mike00295 'We used to...'
2 Ainkara vs. 3 Darko 'Where did you get that from?'

Let the games continue! *que to Rush's The Spirit of Radio for celebration and excitement, then perhaps Queen's We Will Rock You*

You're not out if Darko forgets to post, which seems a little likely.

If someone who wasn't my self or the current lord of awesome tried to steal the cup, they would instantly die from trying to defy the sheild, and then be brought back to life 14 seconds later, reappearing exactly 14 feet away.

Fact: The D-Prime Madness cup automatically refills with Pepsi when one drinks out of it. You cannot turn it upside down and have Pepsi flow out forever because it only pours out directly into the mouth of my self or someone I want it to pour out to (such as the lord of awesome.) This incredible phenomenom happens because a shield of awesomeocity covers the cup, which is so power that it puts different dimesions into play, three of which are new forms of time, and therefore has different laws of physics, though it appears in standard 3-d+time to outsiders. Some of the dimensions are the ones that come into play when you get to the edge of the universe that stop you from leaving it. The misunderstanding we have when trying to leave the universe or trying to figure out how the DPM cup works is much like if someone who lived in 2-d suddenly saw a 3-d sphere, started walking on it, and didn't understand why it doesn't end like when you walk across a circle.

I was hoping to get to the final round so that I could suprise every one by writing a song or poetry. Oh well. Damn how clever you are Darko!

If I lost because of a bullshit post, I would have gotten mighty angry.

I said 'isn't only' as though you already know. I did it to let people know that it isn't confined to that title.

I'd like every one remaining but Mike's choice of which title they would rather have if they make it to the finals; Mike can say his if he wants, though it's irrelavent.

'The Fountainhead'* or 'Dude, where were you?'

The person in the finals who had the most seed-points picks which to use; the other one goes to the semi-final loser match up for 3rd place.

*Note that 'The Fountainhead' isn't only the name of the top thing on a fountain and a novel from the 40s, but also an idiom refering to the 'highest, most important key part/object of some concept/thing.'

Hey, it's whining and getting huffed up that I care about. If HTBD wants to make a competition to rival this one, that's fine by me. However, if he isn't going to do that, he should just stop complaining and not pay attention to posts that, once in a while, take up 1/40th of the front page.

HTBD, you're really fucking stupid.

- That's a gag title, dumb ass.
- If I'm bad but was in some amazing tournament with all the world's greatest writers, it could still be called 'ultimate.' That a bad writer is IN a tournament doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad. Only if a bad writer does WELL in it does it mean that the tournament's unimportant.

I say Ainkara and Mike in the final round, where they will each get a perfect 2, but Mike wins because he didn't wait until the last moment to post, got more attention, and so got more +2s overall.
