I would like to take this opportunity to publicly apologize for my UberMadness Round 4 submission in advance.
You'll understand when the results are posted.
To start off, I had a suckass title. Abysmal. THE FUCKING WORST. I had zero inspiration for it. There was no story in my head that needed to be told, no way to use the title to make people laugh. There was simply nothing I could do with it.
And, for some reason, it was never fucking suggested on the title suggestion page, as many of the bad ones weren't.
I also had zero time. My time is my most valuable resource and it is constantly being stolen from me against my will. I really believe I could've had a shot at this if I had enough time, but again, it's my fault and no one else's.
I'm not saying my esteemed opponent doesn't deserve to win, assuming he doesn't forfeit or is DQ'd. I have no idea what kind of effort he has put in or is continuing to put in. I'm sure he's worked wonders. He's a good writer, in all likeliness he'll probably win no matter what it's put up against. The best of luck to him.
The point I'm trying to make is, I'm sorry. The garbage in this document is not worthy of the fourth round of this competition. But I do happen to believe that it's an improvement on nothingness.

Dude, you shouldn't have pissed away your entry by declaring your title before the comp was over. Do you really want to be DQ'ed 4th round? Why, man, why? It can't be THAT bad...

Dude I know how you feel.
I fuckin TOLD JMG before round IIIs were due that mine was shit. He didn't believe me. I had the idea, but honestly just didn't have 'it' the day I wrote it. I couldn't make it flow, it was choppy, and I lost.
Truth be told, I lost by a far slimmer margin than I thought I would. At one point when the score was in the mid 20s I was only down by 5 votes or so. Crazy shit happens. You might win.

I've been bitching about titles a bit as well but I'm gonna stop. Sure there's alot of pressure for people to write increasingly better as the rounds progress, but when you think about it, that's not what you have to do to win.
This contest isn't so much about writing excellent fiction as it is about writing better fiction than the other guy, and he's got the same title to work with.
I do agree about some of the titles not showing up on the title page though... not sure what's up with that.

It's a competition. If you can't bring your A game for whatever reason, just shut up and take it like a man.
The titles are supposed to be difficult - that's where the challenge comes in. If you don't have the imagination to work with something that you wouldn't have chosen yourself, then you are at fault, not the title.

I wanted to write a post like this for my entry last round. I would've written an entry LIKE this if I hadn't found my muse last night. And I thank the gods for that muse, even if it was from a BACKSTREET BOYS' SONG.
+2 for doing the work on the UM website. And for getting this far in the competition. HURRAH FOR AWESOMENESS, WOO!
