So, you're sitting around at work or at home with the sum total of sweet fuck-all to do? You want to exercise that muscle called a brain?
Then look no further! In my eternal aim to keep people happy and interested in life I present the square game. Now, I'm sure some of you have seen this already. If you have, then maybe you haven't seen all my variations. If you HAVE, then, well... Go play with a Rubiks cube. If you've mastered the Rubiks cube then you're plain stuffed, and I salute you. Watch grass grow, or something. Oh, if you DON'T like thinking, then please press your browsers "Back" button immediately.
So, what is this marvel I am presenting you all with? It goes like this.
HOW TO PLAY!
- Draw 9 dots in a square on a piece of paper (8 on the outside, 1 in the middle)
- You must draw a line through every dot
- You can only draw FOUR lines
- Your pen must not leave the paper (So the lines must be end-to-end)
An example "Attempt" is contained below.
(DISCLAIMER: Brain Haemorrages are not my resonposibility. Or idiots poking themselves in the eye with their pen.)
VARIATIONS:
If you manage to solve the 4 line problem, then try to do it in 3.
*If* you can solve the 3 line one, then see if its possible with 2.
*If* you can solve the 2 line one, see if it is possible to do it in 1.

Oh, Sphag, I'd saved 2 versions - 1 bmp, 1 jpg.
Hence me saying I grabbed the wrong one. Well aware that bmps are stupid and annoying. I did make a jpg, I just attached... the wrong one. :P

Rather angry at the world, aren't you rad?
This is a bit of harmless fun, where people can think outside the box. And yet, you wander in and ruin it for everyone else who might NOT have seen it. Well done.
No, the dots aren't specified to be one size. Thus, to complete the later ones, you need to think OUTSIDE the contraints your mind generally puts on such a problem.
<sigh>
I thought some people on here might actually appreciate a little bit of a puzzle. Last time I do anything like this, with responses like yours.

Yeah, well I've never seen any example where the dots are big enough to not have to draw lines OFF THE PAGE just to zigzag them through the "dots".

The only reason my brain malfunctioned on this post was when I was attempting to comprehend the vast abyss that is the mind of the author.

where does it say that?
The puzzle clearly describes them as "dots" not "Points"
I move that they exist in 2 dimensions for the purpose of this exercise.

The dots are supposed to have no dimension.

fuck that.
If the dots are small, the lines have to be longer in order to do it.
Dots are not one-dimensional

That second way is stupid. It only works when the dots are fucking huge. Unacceptable.

Sigh.
Oh well.
+1 Idiot points for me.
