I'll admit I've had several pints of Stella, so maybe this isn't the best frame of mind to be in to be making the post that I'm about to, but then again maybe it's the best time because I'm drunk and my inhibitions are lowered and I'm more likely to say what I actually feel.
There is a third option of course, that this is all just the ramblings of another depressed teen, either way, it needs to be said.
This is my first post on ubersite, i didn't intend this to be my first post, but it's 2:30 am and this is whats on my mind.
I've got a good group of friends and a really close group of 3, 4 including me. I'd do anything for them. when one of them if feeling down, I do what I can to cheer them up, when they are feeling vulnerable I do my best to make them feel better in anyway I can. I even stand their round at the bar when they've got no cash on them (we're all poor students, but I've got a job)
Is it wrong of me to expect the same in return?
It's not often I admit to them that I'm upset or feeling vulnerable. My role in the group is usually the strong, leader type one. But when I am feeling down, I'd like to be reassured in the same way that I do for them, even if it means lying to me.
I'm sure everyone can agree that it matters to them what their friends think, which is why it's important for friends to know what we want them to think of us or just what we think of ourselves.
Bottom line is I didn't get that from my friends when I needed it. My chat with them, one of them imparticular, left me feeling worse and left me doubting myself more and more.
I just don't think thats what friends are for

This reminded me Thorpe owes me $35 for booze I bought him because he's a poor-arse student. I probably would have forgotten if I'd not read this.

People will let you down.
They don't even do it on
purpose 90% of the time.
The trick is to never stop
being the person that you are
despite that. That, and people
can be cheap fuckers when they
drink too. Never forget that
either man.

They don't appreciate you. Don't let them walk all over you. Let their poor, broke, jobless asses be miserable.

Around the house, I never lift a finger
As a husband and father I'm sub-par
I'd rather -DRINK- a -BEER-
than win Father of the Year
I'm happy with things the way they are
