[Round Four Titles and Updated Bracket are below.]
Round Three had a noble victory on one side, and heartbreak on the other. The question of which two Uberers will compete for the championship has finally been answered. It is also not to be forgotten that the two semi-final losers will now compete to see who 'shows' and gets to grab third place.
The moment to end all moments has come. Let's see what happened, and how we got here.
1 Xcuses http://www.ubersite.com/m/73050 vs 4 Mike00295 http://www.ubersite.com/m/72812 'We used to...'
Mike's post at 9pm Tuesday night instantly seemed like a ticket to the finals. The newb, who was too unknown to participate in UM, initially showed off his ability by intimidating his Round One opponent into a forfeit. Moving on to a more determined foe in Round Two, he clinched another victory still. When he made his 'Final Four' post the other day, creating a parody of the idea of feeling guilty for something someone you're related to did, he secured a successful 1.68. All seemed well. That is, all seemed well until Xcuses' sob story from Friday, which was posted two minutes before the deadline, received a 1.98 on 31 reviews. The impossible happened: Mike00295 put in his all, and still lost. It seems that in the earlier rounds he was a big fish in a small pond, but when it got to Round Three, his attempt, wasn't enough, despite Mike's considerable talent. Xcuses, persevering and barely making it into Round Two, has fought his way to the finals. Xcuses advances to Round Four with 1.98, over Mike00295's 1.68.
2 Ainkara http://www.ubersite.com/m/72820 vs 3 Darko http://www.ubersite.com/m/73103 'Where did you get that from?'
Ainkara's post was odd to say the least: the sort of odd that can only come from a story about a decapitated human head. Unlike the first two cases in which she posted right before the deadline, and was able to get a decisive victory, in Round Three she posted earlier than usual. The change of convention did not go well for her, as she was only able to get a 0.3. Darko's post, which was ironically submitted around the time Ainkara usually posts, about a 9 year-old and his ordeals concerning change and friendship, along with its surprise ending, was enough to beat her. Darko advances to Round Four with 1.6 over Ainkara's 0.3.
The finals have come. This round will define who places, and who doesn't. More importantly, this round will define who is the victor of D-Prime Madness, and who isn't.
Who will win the ultimate test of Uber writing ability?
Watch and find out.
Round Four Titles:
1 Xcuses vs 2 Darko, for the championship: 'The Fountainhead'
3 Ainkara vs 4 Mike00295, for the official third place: 'Where were you?'
R4 begins now. Each competitor has six days, until Friday night at 9:30pm EST, to create a post that corresponds with their title. At that point the winners will be tallied and the final D-Prime Madness I post released. After that, you'll all have to wait for the post which will announce the start of D-Prime Madness II : Fall 2005. All the paricular rules for R4 are, as you all know, on past DPM posts.
'The Fountainhead' is the top of a fountain, and of course, is an idiom for the most important, defining, apex section/piece of an object or concept. In the same way, this battle between Xcuses and Darko is the fountainhead of D-Prime Madness.
One of these two noble warriors will move on to Fall's D-Prime Madness II, and defend their title, and until then will be able to sip Pepsi from the D-Prime Madness cup. One will attempt to claim it themselves next season.
Let the games continue; let the games reach their triumphant, climactic finish!

Got my idea, now just hoping I have time to write it and access to a computer. Tomorrow I move out, and won't be moving into the new place till saturday. Hopefully I'll get lucky and be able to leach off of someone's wireless connection.

This is like Arena Football, except it's played on ice, in a flaming building, with rocket footballs, and Rush playing the whole time.

Well, there will actually be seven days between deadlines. There is one day between the deadline for the last round and the time when next round starts; that way there's at least one day of ratings after each post.

It's almost certainly going to be five rounds, and will have six days between deadlines.

If you can keep it to 3 or 4 rounds with at least a week between deadlines, I'll be in the next one.

No excuse. I've been a citizen of Uber since 8-26-04. I think youre just throwing a fit because you really liked Oslavakia and now I'm going to sell it on E-Bay. You mess with the bull, you get the horns.

"Is it because you lost a European nation when I got a sexually transmitted disease on the river?" No one else is going to have any clue what the hell that means.

Why was I not invited to this Madness? Is it because you lost a European nation when I got a sexually transmitted disease on the river? No one likes a sore loser.
