We just spent a couple of weeks limping round north- East France in a 1974 VW Camper. We saw lots of pretty villages, lakes abbeys and forests. I didn't take loads of pictures- too busy enjoying it all, but I'll post a few today and a few later.
If you ever get the chance to go camping in France I can highly recommend it- the food and wine are excellent, and the French are very welcoming if you try to speak a bit of French (even as badly as me!)
These pictures were taken in and between Berny Reviere near Vic sur Aisne, and Douzy near Sedan.

Lovely! I think tooling around Europe in a Hippy mobile would be awesome.
One day after I get my Ph.D. I plan to take 4-6 weeks and tour England, Scotland, Ireland, and all the surrounding isles. My girlfriend and I figure it'll take us 4-6 weeks (prolly the full 6) to do it properly.
This won't be happening anytime soon. By the time I get my Ph.D., our sun will have gone SuperNova.

Nice pics. I was in France the year I graduated high school. I had taken 2 yrs of French and so I knew a little of the language, but they still refused to even attempt to understand me. Maybe it's because I was speaking it with an East Tennessee accent. Rude fuckers. Beautiful country, though.

It's not restored, just has been looked after.
You see those brown 70s curtains and seats, and the hob? They are original. I've seen underneath too- no welding and not rusty.

$17,000 on a thirty year old camper?
christ
------------------------------------
I've seen some completely restored busses from circa '67 go for as much as $30,000--so she may have gotten a deal, depending on how good the restoration job was.

Rad- it's what they cost! You can get them for a bit less but all the cheaper ones we looked at were rusty and crap.

In August, all the citizens of Northern and central France flock to the French Riviera, and the towns and cities are deserted.
Same thing in Italy. My wife and I were in Italy last year at this time, and Rome was a ghost town.
This post makes we wish I could go on vacation...

If you try to speak French, everyone is great- if you don't they pretend not to know any English and rip you off, unless you go to Paris or any other big hoilday places- they are the same as everywhere.
It cost £7500, dunno the dollars.
DC Woody- my mother in law always makes us look at hundreds of holiday pictures- I'm with you on that! I've tried to write a bit too.

(Will be back on Uber more once summer is over, lot of catching up to do. But Big Mike et al know I do my homework once I settle down. Will read all yours i missed, too -d) Bedtime for Bonzo.
