I can compulsively watch the great escape over and over again.

It's way before my time, and I have no idea how I stumbled upon it. I'm probably the only guy my age who has seen that gem of a movie.

This might be the best post on Uber.

Steve McQueen was, if not the coolest guy ever, just about to overtake him in a Le Mans car.

Steve McQueen was a total fuckin bad-ass, along with Yul Brynner.

I have never actually seen Bullit.

I just got a widescreen so I only watch movies in that format (yes I am a movie snob now, and probably will be for at least another week), anyone know if I can get bullit in wide?

Careful, that's a region 2 DVD. Only plays in Europe...unless you flash your ROM in your DVD player, making it region free. Or you could get DVD Decrypter and rip it to your harddrive and watch it from there. That might sorta be a pain in the ass though.

Ah, the joys of theft.

Not only have I never seen 'The Great Escape', I don't think I've ever seen a Steve McQueen movie PERIOD. I have been informed that because of this, I am an insulated loser with zero culture, so there's no reason to reiterate. I've also never seen the ocean!

I think I'll go to the video store tonight and bust my Steve McQuees cherry, if they have any, and, fuck it, you know, I might just go watch them all by the ocean.

Good post. Very informative.

I like the post.

"McQueen kicks ass... I have watched that car chase a zillion times - excellent. Own the Bullitt soundtrack as well. You didn't add Thomas Crown which is also awesome (even more so after you've seen how Pierce B. & co. totally fucked it up)."

I wanted to include that but I have only seen it once and that was a while ago. I have watched these three more times than I can remember. My dad LOVED Steve McQueen so we were always watching when we were groming up.

'You've overpaid'

and

'Go.'

Incomparable. I watched Layer Cake this year, which was supposed to be the new McQueen, and it wasn't bad but doesn't have the same lowdown groove.

+2 because you reminded me of the chase scene in Bullitt. What a damn good movie!
