Bert really is a dick, and this is coming from a Canucks fan. Hopefully we unload him this summer, preferably for a better goalie.

Anson Carter is extremely overrated. He was only decent here because he was playing with Smyth and Weight/Comrie on the first line. He is a good second liner though, will do well at wing and average at center.
-----------------
Looks like he's done OK so far. Nice to see someone finally helping riase the game of the Sedins. As funny as the "Danielle and Henrietta" jokes were, it was starting to look like wasted draft picks. Now they're Vancouver's best line.
--
No arguement there. Like I said, good second liner. He's a good fit with the skill of the Sedins and he doesnt have to be relied on as the go to guy playing behind the big line.

Ha ha ha. I live in Vancouver and am a Canucks fan, but that was too funny. I too would be protesting his light suspension if my favourite team didn't have a vested interest in having him re-instated.
Of course, Bersnuzzi's not going to get all the glory this year. The Canucks signed former Oiler Dancin' Anson Carter. Hopefully they won't waste him like the Rangers and Kings did.

Me neither.
But it's tough being a hockey fan in TO. EVERYBODY hates us. Personally, I don't think I've ever done anything to earn the despite of the entire country - aside from rooting for the Leafs. Times like this, I wish I was a Montrealler, Calgarian or Edmontonian.
I just live here - honest. I don't LIKE it.
Stupid Leafs.

I personally dont think the guy is good enough to play international hockey. Wrong type of player, same reason Primeau didnt play in the wolrd cup.

Yeah, the battle of Alberta should be awesome. Although I'd take Peca and Pronger over Amonte and Hamrlik anyday of the week. I think the teams are very evenly matched this year and likely will be in the standings as well. I give a slight edge to Calgary for having such solid goaltending at this point. We'll see how Conklin does. No point in signing a goalie long term with 2 first round picks in the system ready to play by next year.
I havent been so jacked up for a season in a long time.
ps. Toronto has a decent team. But they have a very old goaltender and an injury prone team and that will hurt them. They dont have a shot at the Cup.

-2 Die for you Bob, that's my team you're dissing. Grrr.
It isn't the broken neck that's the problem, its the after-effects of the concussion.
What pisses me off is that the guy will be playing for Canada at Turin. It's one thing for the NHL (a business) to let a popular, crowd-drawing player back into the league. It's something else entirely that Bertuzzi will be representing the COUNTRY.

I dont care how well it heals, there will be effects from a broken neck. He also shattered a vertabrae at the top of his spine.
------------
But who was responsible for that?
Bertuzzi of the 18 people who piled on after.
Plus its not like Moore would play any worse in a wheelchair...
That was some cold shit.

"Moore has to live with a serious neck and spinal injury the rest of his life."
How do you know the extent?
It was a broken neck, not neccessarily a serious spinal injury...
A buddy of mine broke his back doing a flip his bike and he was fine and rides now better than ever a year later. If someone could actually prove that it is serious as they claim in their lawsuit( dont even get me started on that) then it might change some shit.
Man, I dunno, this is such a fucked up subject you know. I can completely understand why people want to never see Bertuzzi in the league again, I just think that he should be back.

I wasn't saying that the fact that he feels bad is the reason the NHL lifted the suspension. This wasn't just a 21 game suspension, if he had done this with 59 games left I feel he would have gotten the rest of the season as well. They took all of the things I said into account and that is why they let him back.
If this wasnt enough, what is?
And other 21, another full season. Its not going to change what he did, all it will do is ruin the career of 2 players instead of one.
I NO WAY AM I EXCUSING WHAT HE DID, I just feel that he got more than 21 games.

He refused to fucking fight, if you hit a teams star player and put him out for a week, the next time you seem them, you are gonna be in a fight. PERIOD. The players police themselves in that respect.
--
Wrongo. Moore had already faught Matt Cooke in that game and was beaten around the ice all game long. Not to mention it was a clean hit he laid on Naslund, even Nazzy said it himself that he didnt hold any grudges against it. But his team mates were just "standing up for their teammate."
A guy always has the right to walk (or skate) away from a fight. If Bert wanted him, skate in front of him, grab him by the jersey, toss a few, get your instigator and get thrown out of the game. Dont blind side a guy in a pathetic cheap shot.
The fact that Bertuzzi may have emotional scaring and has to "live with this the rest of his life" isnt punishment enough. Whah whah whah! Moore has to live with a serious neck and spinal injury the rest of his life. Thats only a tad more serious.

I'm gonna plus 2 this because it is about hockey but I think Bertuzzi has paid the price.
-He not only lost the $500k in salary he lost another $350k in endorsements
-He cost the Canucks a chance at the cup (even as a Flames fans the Canucks are better with Bert.)
-He couldn't play overseas
-He couldn't play in the world championships (We lost but who cares, the flames were in the finals...)
-He couldn't play on the world cup team (Which we won BTW)
-Steve Moore is a pussy and should have taken his licks. Don't get me wrong, I will never defend Bertuzzi and what he did but more is a tough guy and he has been known to drop the gloves. He hit Naslund in the teams last meeting and put him out for a week with a concussion (no penalty for the elbow he fed Naslund). He refused to fucking fight, if you hit a teams star player and put him out for a week, the next time you seem them, you are gonna be in a fight. PERIOD. The players police themselves in that respect.
Now what if the Canucks had gone all the way to the finals like the Flames, it would have been 40 games instead of 21, would that have been enough? HE COST THEM THAT OPPORTUNITY, not only does he have to live with the fact that he could have ended another players career (I don't care what anyone says, he didn't mean to break the guys fucking neck), he took away his teams very feasable chance at a cup run.

By no means am I saying that the punch was justified. I'm just not sure if the entire trauma of the injury came from the hit, or the 4 guys that piled on as Moore hit the ice. It's unfortunate either way, and there are so many viewpointes on it, it's almost not worth debating.

I can't influence the decisions of the league any more than I can help Steve Moore. My whole point was I'm tired of hearing about it. If it happend to me I don't know how I would react but still 2-4 times a week I lace up my skates and take that risk. The what ifs of my playing and the what ifs of Moore's situation don't mean a thing. It happend, Moore should let it go. Be a bigger man. His questionable career is probably lost forever. I have no say in the punishment of Bert.

Dont try and make Bertuzzi sound the victim here. Sure he may be upset and sorry, thats good, I hope he is. But there should still consequences for his actions, and 21 games is no where near enough. Its shit like this that makes a great sport and the NHL look like bush league.
Yes it makes the league look bad. Bertuzi is not a victim. I'm a firm beliver in the idea that what happens on the ice should stay on the ice. Obviously incedents like this command discipline and attempts to compensate the victim off the ice. That's been done. It's time to move on. I'm looking forward to this upcoming season and hearing Bert's name in the line up. As for Moore, well he should shut the hell up, take Bert's call and listen to him, then concentrate on getting back into the game (even though he was on his way out anyways).
--
On his way out? He was a rookie, who knows what his career might have looked like before this. He'd never be a star, but so what, he's still a human being and could have been a solid 3rd line player. And no matter who you are, in the NHL the money they make is nothing to sneeze at.
I'm a firm beliver in the idea that what happens on the ice should stay on the ice.
--
So what if Moore had died? Should that stay on the ice? Or what if he had only broken his nose and then got up and been just fine, should there have been no suspension for Bert?
I'm a proponant of suspending the action and not lookin at just the result. A clearly premeditated threat, carried out in a life threatening fashion should be severely dealt with. And it wasnt.

I don't know about Moore's 'bitching' (it really depends on what he says and stuff,) but Bertuzzi's suspension should be measured in games, as in, games that the rest of his team did play. And, it should be more than 21.

Hey dipshit, spit Naslunds cock out of your mouth and come up for air for a minute. You're either a fan or a dipshit. It doesnt matter if Moore is a bit player or Wayne Fucking Gretzky, the fact is he was injured badly and his livelyhood may have been taken away from him. Of course Moore wants to get paid, he wants to be sure that if he cant play hockey he can live the way he would have been before Bert pulled a Hulk Hogan on him.
And he had it coming? HE HAD IT COMING? Fucking idiot. His hit on Naslund was clean, he had already faught in the 9-2 game before turning away from Bert and was assualted from behind in a life threatenign attack.

That's no excuse. You can sleep when you're dead and even when you're dying some one should be standing at your bedside screaming 'SKATE IT OFF!' Then you go off to the big hockey pond in the sky. This room won't truly understand or appreciate this but it was pretty good...would have been better if you left the Sopranos deal out of it.
