I'm preparing to go off to college, well because that's what people do after High School, and I finally declared a Major - Education. No, this isn't a fucking BLOG, instead its a proper introduction into an idea....

And a well-known one: Teaching is probably the most shit on profression.

Of course there's the facade of the Bush Administration saying they wish to improve the nations education -- and I'll use my State (Wyoming) as my own example. Well, considering we're not exactly the top state in education, the fact that 24 schools in the state decreased in standardized testing scores....24 SCHOOLS!!!! Considering our below 1 Million population...that is incredible (most cities sport 3 elementries, 1 junior high, and 1 high school).

Now its time to put a personal touch on this article --- I regret the fact that I attended school. Of course I won't be whining when I get my diploma, but the simple fact remains that if you ask me a single problem from Trig. I couldn't give you a coherent answer. I've forgotten most of my education --- and I'm graduating in a fucking week. Who's fault is this? Partly mine because I didn't dedicate myself religiously to studies (even though I have a Cum. GPA of 3.4), but I do blame the apathy on behalf of the teachers and the lack of support from the administration.

This isn't a cry to help the education system, rather a simple rant I had to get off my chest. Hopefully, when I become a teacher I don't get so apathetic that the kids in my class don't remmeber a damn thing and say shit like, "Perhaps one way will be, if we use military force, in the post-Saddam Iraq the U.N. will definitely need to have a role. And that way it can begin to get its legs, legs of responsibility back."

My .02.

Gurp. How about 25% instead. 12/3 (year, months) = 4. I'm no math major, obviously. Still...

I think education would be interesting to say the least. Before you go on and bitch about how underpaid teachers are, please consider this:

Both my mother and sister are middle school teachers and I never hear the end of their bitchings about pay. My response to this is: YOU ONLY WORK NINE MONTHS!! You know, that whole Summer Vacation thing.

Here are some numbers:

30,000 yearly salary @ 9 months of work. Hmmm... <tap, tap, tap> let's add 33.3% on top of this, assuming they worked a full year like everyone else... that's 40k, right? Stop bitching.

Good luck in your studies.

Murphy

"Wow, Isatros. I see you as a 35-50 year old, balding man living in his parent's basement with Star Trek posters adorning the walls, as well as Darth Vader action figures and a "secret" porn stash in your sock drawer."

Oh, that hurts. Because it's so true. No, really.

Christ above, i've forgotten how absolutely idiotic the world is. we've got a guy saying that teachers are shiat on, then turning around and blamin his problems on teachers b/c they're apathetic, then somehow blamin this all on bush. thanks for reminding me what is wrong with this country's education system.

i'm just givin him a -1 cuz he's from WY, cant help bein stupid.

Don't worry about it. you aren't the only one who can't remember what they learned in highschool. EVERYBODY feels the same way ( ok maybe there's a few keeners that can remember everything, but don't worry about them) It doesn't change after college either, 3 or 4 more years of college and you look back and realize you don't remember or know anything.

But in the real world, its not about being able to memorize equations or definitions off the top of your head (thats what books and writing is for). Just so long as you understand the concepts that your teachers try to get across to you you'll be fine.

Agreed....

After review my own work...the two-cents shit is pretty fucking cliche/retarded.

A point is proven everyday...and today, lil Tony learned a valuable lesson.

Ya, seriously, .02 is stupid.

Thanks.

Amen. I didn't read the article, but yes, the two cents thing is stupid. Almost as much as "attn ghey menz"

I didn't even read more than the first paragraph, so this isn't in response to your post...

Bro, seriously, enough with the "My .02." shit. That's uber-whack.

-1 for being dumb enough to become a teacher
-3 for putting my .02 at the bottom
