.............Well no shit sherlock.
And now everyone is supposed to feel bad. Lets send them millions in federal Aid. So many lives ruined. Well I say fuck you. I'm not from New Orleans, i would only go there for a vacation, or mardi gras. There is a reason for that. Im no Einstein, hell im no Alex Trebek but i do know that they are at least 40 feet below sea level. Thats why i wouldnt live there. And if i did, and owned a home you best believe i would have flood insurance.
But wait, you'll see. All these stupid fuckers will come out of the woodwork. Wah wah my trailer floated away, wah wah i have no roof on my home. Wah wah I got sand in my mangina. Wah wah i got no insurance. Well i say again FUCK YOU! You lose, You get nothing, good day sir. Hell same thing for you idiots that live on the florida coast. What did you expect? How long have there been hurricanes, tropical storms? Er duuuuuuh since i can remember.
Then you got the stupid fucks that think they can waite it out. Are you retarded? Do you think it will just skip over your house? What good is sticking around gonna do? Um nothing. Except burden the coast gaurd, while wasting tax dollars to rescue your dumb ass from the roof of your home. Fucking idiots. Yeah lets try to ride out these 150 mph winds. I think we can beat this thing. Fucking morons.
But the funny thing is, them dumb fuckers will move right back to where they were. Not any smarter, or wiser. Just waiting around for the next tropical storm to hit. And now i hear Bush (W, not the cheap beer you buy the day before payday) is gonna release some of the oil reserve because of this. Gee thanks fuck stick, I think i coulda used it well before this storm hit. Maybe when i was paying $2.67 and my left nut for a gallon the past couple of weeks. Well i say fuck it, and thank you i feel alot better now.

Oh, I don't know, how about somewhere where giant 400 mile wide storms with 100+ mph straight line winds don't hit EVERY OTHER GOD DAMN YEAR. Perhaps somewhere that isn't only below sea level, but trapped between the largest river in the United States and the fucking Ocean. This hurricane happened to be particularly bad, but I remember last year about this time people were crying about the 3 sequential hurricanes that tore up Florida. And wait, I believe a few years back there was another category 4 that made landfall... Tornadoes cause very isolated damage and can't hold a candle to a fucking hurricane as far as lives and damage expense. Drought? America rarely has problems with piping in enough water. Heat and humidity or extreme cold? Come on. The concern isn't bitching about where they live, it's about the fact that EVERYONE'S insurance and taxes go up so that some asshole can live in New Orleans or Miami. That, and if the fuckers are going to live there, at least make the builders build substantial structures.
Even the idiots who built the, I'm guessing close to 600 million dollar Supderdome didn't use proper fasteners and paid the price. They'll probably whine and say, "Well, the winds were 150 mph, come on!!!1 We built it to withstand a category 3, what more to you want?!" Do what the rest of the fucking world does and build it a third stronger than it needs to be to withstand the worst case on record. 200mph wind standard. It will surely cost less than the probably 20 million they'll be blowing on repairing the roof.

The states should cover their own disasters - I can't think of any time FEMA's been up here in KC trying to help out. Those dumb fucks in New Orleans have known for what, 30+ years that this could happen, but what have they done to help the situation? Nothing that I've heard of. Hell, those hurricanes LAST YEAR should have been some sort of a wake up call, but I don't remember reading anything about new programs, dikes, etc. that were being started in the event that something would hit. Now that it happened, WE should pay for their mismanagement? I don't think so.

From the perspective of a home builder, they have the technology to build hurricane proof homes for about, oh, 80 years, it's called cinder blocks and cement tile rooves mounted with hurricane clips and screws instead of nails. That along with heavy metal storm shutters will allow you to evacuate at your own discretion and leisure. Instead though, idiots will gladly buy a $700,000 bay-windowed home on the beach constructed from such fine materials as OSB (Oriented Strand Board, the shit that looks like woodchips glued together because that's what it is) and mounted with nails that can simply be yanked out by a strong gust. Instead, they should be buying an sturdier yet less spacious home that won't get blown apart by winds and debris.
Here in Kansas, hurricane clips are required on commercial building because of tornado activity and microbursts, although a tornado will destroy just about anything that isn't a bunker or a mighty skyscraper.
