I'm just listening to the Nevermind thing- that album has good memories for me too, it came out when I was in the 6th form (last 2 years at school before university) We used to sit about in our common room playing cards and listening to it and avoiding doing any work.
I really like your versions- also you have a definate 'sound' which i love.
I'm off to repair your ratings cos Lesson Learned appears to have got you too!
(Don't tell anyone but I now have a higher rating than before ge gave all my posts at least 2 -2s, due to all the sympathy +2s i got!)

Here is another + 2 because I think this post is very cool, but mainly because I can't get that 'SlowBurn' song out of my head- can I download some other stuff you have done somewhere?
----------------------------
C1ndy, I thought you'd never ask! :P
Here is my website. There are links to all kinds of songs from there. http://www.electrictoothsyndrome.com
Or, you could go straight to the directory with all the songs, even ones that are not posted on my site. There are about 50 or so songs there, in all. http://www.electrictoothsyndrome.com/songs/
The thing ubersite knows me most for is this: http://www.electrictoothsyndrome.com/project.html It's a project I have underway to remake the entire Nirvana Nevermind album. All the music is completely rewritten. I've only got one more song to go, and I'll be done with it.

Rebuild? duh
It's only the Ras Tanura of the south and the end and beginning of the longest highway for
all the products that come down the river for import and export from the heart of the US
ag community. Add these veggies to a long list of other products and it's a no brainer.
I think you can safely say it will become whole, sans flotsam and jetsam, rather quickly.

They will rebuild it. There is too much invested there. Too many buildings are still salvageable, I'm sure. It will not be the same city though, and they will have to make HUGE changes to the infrastructure, namely the levy.
It will be interesting to see how it all pans out though. Who knows? THey might just move to higher ground. Problem is, real estate is not cheap. Where else are they gonna go? Those that own the land will have little choice but to try to do something with it again, unless the government pays them to relocate.

Did you just slip a Team America quote in there?
I was musing today, wondering if New Orleans is gone forever. I think maybe it is. Realistically, if they rebuild the city, it would take months if not years...and by then any survivors would probably have settled down somewhere else, and any newcomers would probably think, "Flood city? Fuck that! I'm moving to a mountain." If they rebuild New Orleans, will it be a ghost town?
It's terribly sad. New Orleans has such a rich history.

Thecaes, my friend, thank you.
If anyone still has doubts about whether this is a serious catastrophic event, you should turn on Fox News and see Bill O'Reilley right now criticising president Bush and the National Guard of Louisiana. If that's not shocking to the system, I don't know what is!
Ironic that Fox News has the best coverage of the catastrophe I've yet come across on American TV. I don't know what BBC or other foreign news is running, but every indication is, this shit has already hit the proverbial fan, and the city of New Orleans is in total ruin and chaos.

ETS, you're a mad bastard and you can be a real...what's the word...antagonistic nutjob sometimes. But it was pretty clear to me that this was satire and social commentary about the recent decline we've seen in the world. And when Cookie criticised you (which was fine), you took it in stride and presented your argument with maturity and tact, so I don't know why you're catching flack for this.
I thought it was smart.

Oh, also, Cookie, I'd say that the second most intense hurricane on record is pushing the definition of erratic.
-------
I'm fighting REALLY hard to continue to rate the post and not the dumb-assed poster.
Erratic implies that it's something out of the ordinary. A hurricane in a hurricane-prone area is NOT an erratic weather pattern. I'm looking at the National Weather Bureau's list of the 10 most devastating hurricanes on record, and guess which one isn't on there? The page also states that for the last century, the worst hurricanes of the year have fallen at the end of August, beginning of September. Let's all have a look-see at the calendar, shall we? What day is it? September First? Wow. That doesn't seem erratic at all. Last year was declared the most destructive hurricane season ever, also, and I'd say that the multitude of hurricanes that hit the exact same area of Florida repeatedly last year would be considered slightly worse than Katrina. Perhaps you forgot how to read when I stated that the only reason Katrina was so devastating was because "she" managed to destroy a levy that unleashed thousands of gallons of water into New Orleans, which is essentially a bowl. That levy was already a hazard. A stiff wind from a tropical storm would have keeled it over.
Go on with your doom and gloom. You're just like the idiots that stand on the streetcorners hollering about how the end is near. Those idiots have been there for ages, and the end has yet to come. The political strife of recent years is the same old fucking thing that's been going on for hundreds of years, just with different weapons in different countries. There have been worse global disasters... heard of Chernobyl lately? Perhaps 3-mile island? And the fuel crisis? Have you read anything about the gas shortage in the 70's lately? A crooked national leader using an army to forward his own personal vendettas? I don't think there's enough room for me to list the number of world leaders this applies to.... we'll mention Hitler and Napoleon and leave it at that, shall we?
Spare me. Honestly. Better yet, I'll spare myself by not clicking on your crappy posts anymore, crybaby.
-------------------------
You need some Midol before YOU become a natural disaster...oh wait...too late.
Excuse me, but I was mistaken, it's the 3rd most intense hurricane to hit the US in recorded history... Sorry. My bad.
The following quotes are taken from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Katrina
"Its central pressure of 915 mbar (27.02 inches Hg) at the time of its Louisiana landfall makes it the third most intense system to strike the United States in recorded history behind Camille of 1969 and the "Labor Day" hurricane of 1935."
"Hurricane Katrina was a powerful tropical cyclone that caused extensive and severe damage in the southeastern United States and will likely become the worst natural disaster to hit the United States, with major global economic consequences caused by disruption of oil supplies, exports, and imports."
"Katrina may be the deadliest hurricane in the United States of America since the Galveston Hurricane of 1900, which killed around 8,000 (possibly up to 12,000) people. The death toll of Katrina so far may be "in the thousands", stated by the New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin on August 31, but it will take weeks before accurate numbers are known. On September 1 Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco reported that she learned from emergency responders that the death toll would indeed be "in the thousands". Katrina is also expected to be the costliest natural disaster in United States history, exceeding the 1992 Hurricane Andrew."
I see your point though, the end is not near. You're so right, I feel like celebrating by burning a pile of used tires. It's people like you who will completely fucking panic when the shit really hits the fan. It's people like you who will stubbornly keep driving an enormous gas-guzzling vehicle when you're the only passenger. Keep turning a blind eye to the signs all around you that our world is being ravaged by the archaic burning of fossil fuels and soon enough, it really WILL be the end, and it'll be too fucking late to do anything about it.
But if it makes you feel better to disregard or combat what I say simply because you don't like me personally, you should at least get your facts straight before you open your fat fucking mouth. Otherwise you run the risk of looking like a retard.
Cookie, honestly, I don't care how you rate me. I took what you said, considered it, and tried to clarify my position. If you want to lower this 'debate', if it can even be called that, to mudslinging and childish name-calling, then so be it. I'm your Huckleberry, honey.

sorry. I fail to see how hurricane Katrina is an erratic weather pattern.... it's not the first hurricane to hit that area. The only reason it was so much more devastating than other hurricanes this year is because of the broken levy, which was problematic prior to the hurricane.
But +1. Not that it made me smile, because that's kinda sick, but you deserve better than a 0, but less than a +2. Think of this as not quite a kicker of all ass, but maybe more of a clubber of all kneecaps.
------------------------
I appreciate your comments. I was refering to the global weather patterns over the past decade or so and how they've escalated into producing increasingly devastating and erratic weather overall. This hurricane season is projected to be the worst on record, and last year's tornado season WAS the worst on record.
The burning of fossil fuels, global warming, melting of polar ice caps and glacial regions, and the desalinization of the world's oceans will only further this trend in the future. So in that sense, Katrina is part of a larger weather pattern which can be definitely be classified as 'erratic'.
The people who have tried to undermine and draw our collective attention away from the scientific evidence of all this for their own financial gains will soon no longer have a leg to stand on. I think we all need to take a serious look at what our so-called 'progress' has brought us. Unless we start taking some fairly drastic measures to right this global ship, we're all going to be going down in a big fucking way - and the this time, there will be no band left to play on at the end.
I hate to be a bummer for everyone, but it's really time we all wake the fuck up.

Kind of fucked up to look at the people in the tsunami pic and realize that ALL of them are probably dead now. The famine kid too.
Fuck life is depressing. I need to start drinking again.

Well done. Katrina seems a bit misplaced with all those others, though. Maybe a POLLUTION or GLOBAL WARMING or AIDS (disease) card would be more appropriate? Just wondering.
Don't get me wrong, these are effing money.

you should start up a game version of it.
like that Magic thing...
like Katrina would have like a billion hitpoints and stuff.
and your two-handed +3 broad-sword won't do any damage against it.

Very cool. The one with Bush in front of the seal, making it look like a halo, is particularly scary.
