If you replaced him with an ultra-conservative there would be no difference than the man who passed away.
Bush will wind up appointing 3 judges because another is due to retire soon and will do so before Bush ends his administration most likely.

Good point...maybe that thought alone (3 picks) can keep 'em on the bench until at least '08. I'd hate to think that judicial policy for the next 20-30 years could more or less be decided by a guy that didn't even win the popular vote his first time around (which logically means he wouldn't be making these picks having lost in 2000).
