The events in this timeline precede the English civil war mentioned in this post.

Timeline.
Events preceding the start of the English civil war.
1. December 22nd 2006
Castro Dies.
Following a long illness Fidel Castro finally succumbs to pneumonia and dies.
As preparations are being made for the state funeral a CIA funded march of the so called 350 dissident groups ends in disaster when opposing factions clash and shots are fired.
Two days of violent demonstrations ensue and when the dust finally settles the death toll stands at 350 this includes two CIA agents and a further three are arrested in the streets of Havana and held for questioning.
Despite the illegality of the agents being on Cuban soil Raul Castro's first action as Cuba's new figurehead is to return the agents to American custody.
2. December 28th 2006
George Bush orders retaliatory strike on strategic targets in Havana.
Despite universal condemnation and the threat of sanctions from all other member states of the UN the American government insists that the death of the two CIA operatives was a deliberate attack on US citizens by the Cuban Government and American bombers attack and destroy three military targets in Havanna.
The US announce the action a success.
Cuba announce the civilian death toll at 200.
South America erupts.
3. January - December 2007.
Communism sweeps across South America.
Following the US attacks on Cuba the Brazilian and Venezuelan Governments immediately announce plans to implement full Marxist ideology.
Almost simultaneously revolutionary activity is reported in Ecuador, Columbia, Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay and Uruguay.
The French are forced to pull out of Guiana. By the start of the new year, with the exception of Chile and Argentina (which has descended into anarchy) South America is unified under communism.
America is increasingly isolated from the rest of the world and the foundations of a new cold war develop between the United States and China.
Domestically the American economy is in ruins, however support for the Republican government is higher than ever and Dick Cheny sweeps to victory with 98% of the vote in the 2008 elections.
4. June 2009.
First reports of a disease infecting and killing rice plants in central China.
Although initially the Chinese government play down the significance of the threat it soon becomes apparent that countless millions face starvation. As the Chinese economy starts to cave in on itself instances of the rice blight are reported in Indonesia, Korea, Vietnam and Brazil.
Nothing seems to stop the spread of the disease. As the death toll starts to mount all non essential international travel is suspended and the worlds borders are closed off one by one.
The world braces itself for the greatest natural disaster in its history but French scientist Jean-Luc Goddard discovers that it is in fact a man made virus that has been introduced to the rice plants through the affected countries water tables.
The phrase "Wet Bomb" is used for the first time.
5. January 3000.
Super Cholera breaks out in the US.
The television station Al Jazeera runs footage taken from a video reportedly sent in by Al Qaeda. It shows a man of Arab decent standing on the roof of the Chrysler building in New York.
He is holding what appears to be a modified grenade launcher and after a speech to the camera in which he claims to be the hand of god he fires a single shot into the air before stepping off the top of the building.
The ban on international travel seems to be the only thing that prevents total world disaster as a mutated strain of cholera rips through the United States.
Impervious to all vaccines and treatments the death toll is horrific.
Two hundred and seventy million dead by the fourth of July.

yeahhh...completely unrealistic.
I appreciate what you're trying to do with the alternate timeline stuff, cos I really love that line of fiction - the trick is, you have to make it VAGUELY believable. The U.S. isn't bombing Cuba, for any reason.
Why not just clone Hitler and have hiim come back to life then?

It's not exactly an "alternate timeline" if it hasn't happened yet. Ever read Kim Stanley Robinson's "The Years of Rice and Salt" or Harry Turtledove's "Ruled Britannia"? Now THAT'S alternate history at its finest.
And if you want a kind of 'alternate' history mixed with the Far Downstream, there's Dan Simmons's "Ilium." Nothing like the Iliad mixed with the Tempest mixed with quantum teleportation, resurrected scholars, and robots.

Through October 11 to 21, three covert raids by U.S. military aircraft bomb Cuban sugar mills in Pinar del Rio and Camaguey provinces. Cuba begins efforts to purchase airplanes for its defense, looking first to Britain, who agrees to enter negotiations for sales. Britain quickly withdraws from the negotiations after the U.S. learns of them and advises Britain otherwise. On Oct. 21, an aircraft raid on Havana kills two people and wounds 45 civilians in the streets. The next day, in Las Villas province, a U.S. military aircraft strafes a train full of passengers. In response, Cubans form a popular militia. On October 25, Camilo Cienfuego, leader of the Cuban revolutionary army, is tragically lost in a mysterious plane crash.
