I'm a Christian and I don't hate atheists..I pray for them

I don't hate agnostics I pity them

I don't hate "normal" Islamism because its non-extant (the truth is out about radical Islamic fundamentalists).

I don't hate Satanists because they are lost forever.

What's you opinions? The informed left call religion "only for the stupid" that people of fath are in some way handicapped.

If they don't Hate Religion then why do they try every way every day to try and remove symbols of secular religion.

Im sure some one will post some separation of church and state!! Rant I just wonder..have you read and understand what is said?

Anytime religion is mentioned within the confines of government today people cry, "Separation of Church and State". Many people think this statement appears in the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution and therefore must be strictly enforced. However, the words: "separation", "church", and "state" do not even appear in the first amendment. The first amendment reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

The statement about a wall of separation between church and state was made in a letter on January 1, 1802, by Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist Association of Connecticut. The congregation heard a widespread rumor that the Congregationalists, another denomination, were to become the national religion. This was very alarming to people who knew about religious persecution in England by the state established church. Jefferson made it clear in his letter to the Danbury Congregation that the separation was to be that government would not establish a national religion or dictate to men how to worship God. Jefferson's letter from which the phrase "separation of church and state" was taken affirmed first amendment rights. Jefferson wrote:

" I contemplate with solemn reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church and State."

The American people knew what would happen if the State established the Church like in England. Even though it was not recent history to them, they knew that England went so far as forbidding worship in private homes and sponsoring all church activities and keeping people under strict dictates. They were forced to go to the state established church and do things that were contrary to their conscience. No other churches were allowed, and mandatory attendance of the established church was compelled under the Conventicle Act of 1665. Failure to comply would result in imprisonment and torture.

The people did not want freedom from religion, but freedom of religion. The only real reason to separate the church from the state would be to instill a new morality and establish a new system of beliefs.

Our founding fathers were God-fearing men who understood that for a country to stand it must have a solid foundation; the Bible was the source of this foundation. They believed that God's ways were much higher than Man's ways and held firmly that the Bible was the absolute standard of truth and used the Bible as a source to form our government.

Dude, the Bible was a book written by men to control people. Not to mention that Christianity is but one of many religions, both in the US and the rest of the world. The reason there is no single correct relgion is simple: all relgions have the right idea, but try to get there the wrong way. Be it radical terrorism, infringing on rights because of "moral autrhority" or telling their followers not to seek life-saving medical procedures, most religions create harm by tring to do good.

When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are about to enter and occupy, he will clear away many nations ahead of you: the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. These seven nations are all more powerful than you. When the LORD your God hands these nations over to you and you conquer them, you must completely destroy them. Make no treaties with them and show them no mercy. Do not intermarry with them, and don't let your daughters and sons marry their sons and daughters. They will lead your young people away from me to worship other gods. Then the anger of the LORD will burn against you, and he will destroy you. (Deuteronomy 7:1-4 NLT)

You may pity agnostics, but I pity people who can't think for themselves and gladly swallow everything that the fundamentalist right has ever spoon-fed them.

Your knowledge and understanding of the Bible is clearly lacking- your post makes this painfully obvious to me. Never be afraid to question how things really are, or how things appear to be, or any of that shit.

And stop being so downright fucking arrogant. You have no fucking right to run my fucking my life, or anyone's fucking life, so take your damned ignorant words away from anywhere where I can see them. What you partake in is discrimination, segregation, sectarianism, and generalised hate crimes. And you fucking sicken me, because that runs entirely contrary to everything the Bible says, and yet you claim the Bible backs you.

I am no Christian. *You* are exactly why I am not.

Congratulations. You have a total of -1 converts.

Only for the stupid?

You have an invisible friend who has three personalities but is only one being, which makes him a skitzo (I can not spell) and although he never talks to you does anything or makes any apperances you know what he wants becasue of a copy of a very old book which someone (I assume your parents) have told you is his will. It often contradicts itself and reality (somesort of animal that has six legs only has four according to the bible), and says you will suffer eternal agony if you do a variety of things including but not limited to:
1.Sensible ones like kill people
2.Engage in homosexual activities (like becoming a priest presumably)
3.Eat shellfish
4.Wear clothes made from more than one type of cloth (like the pope)

There are also hints near the start that wearing clohtes for any reason other than protection is a sin.

I think that is stupidity.

ok i read it. I think the left State, instead of removing the mentioned items from the hands of the church, are instead removing them from the hads of parents. Everything listed in your flash under church should be parentally imbued upon our children not religiously imbued. Maybe, if religion took as great an impact on society as it did when nobody knew how to read, the state wouldn't have to educate about sex, drugs, and moral character. But the religious aspect isn't near as influencing on our children and parents just don't seem to give a fuck these days. What do we do?

Shit, if the state can get it done, why not let them? Fucking parents aren't doing it.

As far as religion is concerned, if it works for you, right on!
If it doesn't, right on!

Either way, there are certain moral lessons taught in the christian bible that anyone of any religion can respect. To not steal and not murder and not practice adultery and not steal...these aren't things that are only followed by members of specific religious circles. These are moral ways of evolved, civilized society. Those that don't follow them aren't lacking in religion, they are lacking in moral, civilized fiber.

I say castrate rapist on first offenses.
I say murder them second time.
I say assrape someone who steals.

Look at your local community's website and the list of sex offenders.

You go to jail for 6 months for smoking pot. You get 10 years probation for sexually assaulting a child. Something's wrong there.

Minus googolplex for this bible thumping church rat!
I'll give you a good reason for why god has no business in public education: Every day historians and archeologists prove that the bible is not very accurate. (i.e.) It's a crock of bullshit of biblical proportions. Teachers are basically people of science, and have the moral obligation of professing the truth. If people took the bible seriously chances are you would have never made it out of the birth canal. You beat the odds thanks to science and so will your kids. But there is no such thing as chance in nature, the nature that your version of god created. You are disobeying his will,by beating the odds this long. Only a lesser inteligence sees reality and ignores it. You are a lesser intelligence and are alive thanks to science, because according to god, you and your kind should be dead.

A thank you, credit and recognition is what you might want to show, when someone else down your gene pool beats the odds.

-2 for sheer lack of foresight and common sense.

>>The people did not want freedom from religion, but freedom of religion.<<

Do you know what *true freedom is? Anarchy. You want to put the ten commandments up in a courthouse? Fine. Then everyone else who pays for that courthouse, every taxpayer of every religion, should have the right to put their symbols up there beside it. The star of david, the crescent moon, upside down crosses for the reactionary Satanists, statues of Buddha, Kwan Yin, Vishnu, totem animals, Bubastis, Zeus, and you'd better believe the Pagans and New Agers are going to insist on all their individual gods/godesses/etc get represented. And what about placement?Everyone's going to want to be front and center, so who gets it? The religion with the most backing? Doesn't seem terribly fair. It would be rather like giving white folk the best parking spots. So who gets it, and moreover, how do you plan on directing foot traffic when your entryway is filled with over a thousand statues? Or perhaps we could cast them all in pewter miniatures (at the taxpayer's expense of course) and put them in a curio. When they no longer seem terribly relevant to the entryway as no one remembers WHY a thousand pewter miniatures were displayed in the entryway, they can move the curio to a basement or broom closet or museum of stupid ideas.

Freedom of religion, in the government sense, means freedom FROM religion. Religion, as you observed, serves many of mankind's more humane needs; welfare, education etc. So does any social institution that has evolved to work. The goal of any social institutions, whether it be a religious one or a governmental body, should be to unite its populous. This is where religion and politics differ. A religion's goal is not to unify all people. Catholics do not want to unite Protestants (though they would love to convert them). Jews do not want to unite Muslims. Buddhists do not want to unite Lutherans. They each want to unite their people to their dogma/beliefs/paradigms. Governments have entirely different goals. The Canadian government wants to unify ALL Canadians; to get them to work together; pay taxes; drive on the right side of the road. Same with the US, France, Britain, etc. I don't care if you're a Christian leader; as a leader, you are supposed to represent ALL your people. If you fail to do so, you have failed as a leader. If you use your power to place factional symbols or icons on government property, you are really nothing more than a marketer or salesman taking part in product placement. Same would hold true if you were going to use your political power to affect religious change.

to post all of this shit without being persecuted, and lynched. Or worse yet..
(or better yet..) stoned. It's one thing to belive in something, and hold firm
to your own beliefs, and it's quite another to try to push your beliefs on others.

You're no better than Satan, trying to tempt people with something they're not willing
to accept.

Brian, I question what your motives are on this site. Do you believe such polarization will win converts? All I ever infer is that you are self-righteous, judgmental, and intolerant. If this is not the case, you may want to consider a change it attitude toward your writing (when you aren't plagiarizing). I could write a book in response, but instead:

"However, the words: "separation", "church", and "state" do not even appear in the first amendment. The first amendment reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

Try to follow me here: Congress=State. Make no law=separation. Religion=Church. Understand?

pity-Pronunciation: 'pi-tE Function: noun Inflected Form(s): plural pit·ies
Etymology: Middle English pite, from Old French pité, from Latin pietat-, pietas piety, pity, from pius pious 1 a : sympathetic sorrow for one suffering, distressed, or unhappy

There are many agnostics who are not suffering, distressed, or unhappy. Pity for them is wasted.

Quotes from some of those Founding Fathers you refer to as Christians:

"Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon, than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness, that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind." - Thomas Paine (The Age of Reason, 1794-1795.)

"Question with boldness even the existence of a god." - Thomas Jefferson (letter to Peter Carr, 10 August 1787)

"During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What have been its fruits? More or less in all places, pride and indolence in the Clergy, ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution." - James Madison (Memorial and Remonstrance against Religious Assessments, 1785.)

"The Christian god can easily be pictured as virtually the same god as the many ancient gods of past civilizations. The Christian god is a three headed monster; cruel, vengeful and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging, three headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes; fools and hypocrites. To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical." -Thomas Jefferson

Doh! Forgot something:

"...The whole "don't worry about what others think of you" is a largely misunderstood piece of Christian dogma. Yes, it is true that..."

Yes, it is true that one should not allow the perceptions and actions of others to dissuade you from doing that which you ought. However, there is much to be said for avoiding the appearance of evil. How is one able to be a sound proponent of a belief if one cannot live a life that draws people to desire that life?

If the Christian church was a marketing advisor firm, they'd be in the red before sundown. What a completely horrible job Christians in general have done in living a life that reflects the positives of a right relationship with God. Based on all the Christians you've run into, how many made you want to up and run to the nearest church and sign up?

Exactly.

And what kind of chance do these individuals have of speaking *anything* into anyone else's life?

Remember, Brian, that you, like all others who fly the banner of "Christian", have the responsibility of reflecting the principles that guided Jesus and being a right representative of the Christian God. Something that, frankly, this post and subsequent replies do not do.

Might I suggest a bit less of a "holier than thou" approach next time you decide to broach this subject? It raises the ire of those who don't share one's understanding of the world, and doesn't make them particularly more desirous to entertain your reasonings and conclusions and rationally consider your point of view.

Regardless of if you meant it to or not, I think a safe estimate is that the vast majority of your readers, based on your writings, consider you to be a self-righteous and pompous plaguriser with nothing relevant to say and no way to intelligently speak into their lives or provide them with anything useful. And that assessment isn't even including your responses, from which people likely derive additional negative characteristics that further alienate you from your target audience: Hot-headed, insecure, abraisive, immature.

I think you lost the respect of much of the readers at this statement: "I'm a Christian and I don't hate atheists..I pray for them". And it just keeps going downhill from there. This is regardless of what creed or understanding they are a proponent of.

You say "its good that you don't like me..I careless". Regardless of whether or not this is directed just at zakalwe or everyone in general... what does that prove? What good does that do for your case? How can you attempt to speak into the lives of another if you don't even care about how you portray yourself to others? The whole "don't worry about what others think of you" is a largely misunderstood piece of Christian dogma. Yes, it is true that

I have questions to ask of you: What was the purpose of this post? What were your intentions? Who was your target audience?

There is much wisdom to be found in the following words from the Bible: "A soft answer turns away wrath." and "A spoonful of honey will catch more flies than a gallon of vinegar." It is not enough to be right--one must also be righteous. Anyone can dispense truth if they have the facts. However, truth without love is useless.

No one likes a fire and brimstone preacher. Yes, there are times for it, but observe Jesus: How often did He do the "fire and brimstone" thing?

That said, Ubersite is an incredibly-difficult training ground, and highly critical of relgious posts at the best of times. If you can get to the point where people here respect your opinion, especially regarding Christianity, ya done good.

I leave you with John 7:18 "He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him."

Who's honor and glory do you wish to gain with what you say? Yours or His?

Stay orange.

If you interperet this writing simply as it without attaching the ills of people like president Bush and other members of the Christian Right who, in my opinion, conduct un-American activities by forcing their belief on other people, you'll find the writing has many merits and is ultimately true. The state is doing far more than it needs to and doing it extremely inefficiently. The Church does wonderful things for people and communities and does it with more knowledge and incentive than the state. I absolutley agree with the opinions in this writing though it did come accross a bit strong.

Its not that religion should be abolished, its jus that we need to stop people like the president from forcing the morals of their religion on the rest of us.

What bush and the republicans are attempting to do is establish fundamentalist christian morality as the basis for our laws and society in this country. In case you haven't noticed, there are millions of us here who do not subscribe to these same tenats as they do. Therefore, they are in practice establishing their religion as the state religion.

It is supremely ironic that the puritans came to this country to escape religious persecution, however we now find their religion being forced upon all of us unwillingly.

Islamism refers to a set of political ideologies derived from conservative religious views of Muslim fundamentalism, which hold that Islam is not only a religion, but also a political system that governs the legal, economic and social imperatives of the state. Islamist movements seek to re-shape the state by implementing a conservative formulation of Sharia. [1] Islamists regard themselves as Muslims rather than Islamists, while moderate Muslims reject this notion.
