Well, those of you who read my last toast liked it... bt unfortunatelty I didn't use that one. I realized the people at the wedding were mostly business and other outsiders who wouldnt get the inside jokes, so I rewrote it. it went over extremely well, so i figure you guys might like it too
THE TOAST
Thank you for coming this afternoon to witness this wonderful event. For those of you who don't know, I am Karl's son, Kevin. I was surprised to be chosen as the best man for one simple reason; he has a lot of good friends. Dad, I am honored you chose me. Thank you.
Pat, in marrying my father today, not only have you joined our family, you have reinforced what I have always believed; laughter and love will always be something to strive for. You have shown my father, as well as the rest of us here today, laughter is healing energy for the spirit and love is engaging to the soul. I am grateful to have our in our family. Welcome to the family. Thank you for choosing us.
Dad, being your son has been a privilege. You have taken me fishing, shown me how to pitch a tent, and how to be a good friend. Most of all, you have shown me strength. Not all of your years have been the best but through everything you have had to endure; you continue to push on and do not give up. You have raised three fine daughters and one, if I do say so myself, mediocre son. That right there is a testament to your character. Thank you dad for being just that, a dad...my dad.
(raise your glass in the air) Let us raise our glasses in honor of these two fine people who have come together to live, laugh and love together for the rest of their days.
