Edward Sands was in a meeting. A small council had been called, which in itself was a strange occurrence. A Chaos Conclave was somewhat of an oxymoron. There was little organization at these gatherings. Mostly a group of Avatars sitting around with a few cases of beer, shooting the shit.
Duncan St. James was the oldest at sixty-two. He didn't believe in anything, and made sure that everyone knew it. Currently he was arguing with Grant Morrison about the upcoming Royal wedding between Prince Charles and that common woman. They were trying to decide what, if anything, to do to disrupt the whole sordid affair.
Calif Al'Tunis was attempting to engage Hoa Pi Tung in a game of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, but the Korean Agent of Chance had drank way to many Labatt Blues' and kept screaming "Marilyn Monroe" at the top of his lungs, pissing off his wife, Kaote Maria Guiterriez. She was trading recipes for curry with Sighe Nichlle, one of the newer players on the block.
Ed, on the other hand, was talking music with Natalie Guffman, a teenager from Australia. She was the newest to be added to their little clique, and youngest to boot. Ed felt bad that Andrea couldn't come with him, but since they were partying in a pocket dimension, she might have been physically uncomfortable.
"Fuck Jet," swore Ed. "They just want to be AC-DC. And a poor imitation at that!"
"How can you say that! They fucking rock," said Natalie.
This went on for a while. Eventually Grant convinced Duncan that they probably should not make it rain menstrual blood on the Royal wedding day. Calif gave up on the game when Hoa passed out, and Maria threatened to castrate anyone who woke her husband. Sighe interrupted Ed's conversation.
"Tell me, Edward, how goes things with your mortal Avatar?"
Everyone got real quiet and real interested. Ed figured this was the real reason for the impromptu get together. The crew had been curious. News of Andrea had traveled through the circuit and they wanted to know what Ed had done about it.
"Well, she's adjusted quickly. Surprisingly fast, actually. As long as it doesn't effect her own physiology, she can pretty much accomplish anything now that I can. That seems to be the mortal draw back. Her body can't handle direct Chaos. That's, for instance, why she isn't here."
"Fascinating," said Sighe.
"What's she like?" asked Maria.
"Um, she's nice. I mean, she's a really cool chick. Super smart, and funny. Has the same sense of humor as me. She thinks up ways to manipulate the Chaos that just baffles me sometimes. She's more science based than creative, ya know what I mean?"
"And..." asked Duncan, raising an eyebrow.
"And what?"
Grant started laughing and Calif shook his head.
"Duncan wants to know if you've banged her yet," explained Natalie.
"No! Why, should I have?'"
"First thing I would have done," said Duncan.
"That's cause your a dirty old man," added Grant.
"It's true," said Duncan.
Ed sat there among the other mages and thought about it. Andrea was pretty enough. Dark, sharp features and shiny black hair. She was petite with a nice body, but... it was Andrea. She seemed so innocent, so free. He had always preferred girls with a little bit of a mean streak to them. Plus, she was his student. He was essentially responsible for her. He really shouldn't mix business with pleasure, right? This coming from a Chaos Avatar. Hell, he hadn't really thought about it.
Things broke up shortly after that. Maria tossed her husband through a portal back to Brazil and wished everyone a pleasant spring. Duncan took off for South Africa, with a promise from Grant to do something truly horrible in England for the upcoming nuptials. Sighe left for India and Calif for Canada. Natalie was hovering by a warp gate, waiting for Ed.
"Hey, so I was wondering, you're not interested in this Andrea girl then?"
"No. Well, I don't think so."
"I see."
"Why do you ask?"
"Wanna come back to my place for another beer?"
"Another beer?"
"Maybe."
"Hmmm."

Ed lay in bed next to Natalie feeling slightly guilty. He couldn't shake the feeling he had somehow cheated on Andrea. Not that they were in any way together, but still. They had become pretty close recently. Maybe he should have a talk with her when he got back. As she had got increasingly powerful in her own Chaos abilities, he had found it harder to read her. Too much feedback. Maybe there was something there.
Natalie shifted against him. He was glad she was asleep. He was pretty sure their fornication had set off a tidal wave of Discordian Energy. He wondered if Maria and Hoa had that problem. All he could think about was Andrea. He hoped she didn't find out somehow. She didn't have the same contacts he did in the metaphysical circles. However, the sex may have been felt by the other Avatars. He just didn't know.
Andrea. Fuck, he was going to have to do something about her.

It's always a pleasure reading your work.
When you say Natalie is a teenager and the youngest of them, how old is she? I'm guessing Ed is in his early twenties?
I would think Ed is going to have some serious problems with Andrea when she finds out, because you can bet your bottom dollar that she will.

This was written quite a while ago, before Prince Charles married what's her name. Anyhow, as you may have been figuring out, this story is really about Andrea. It's all about a girl...
And isn't really every story that some poor bastard writes?
