Here is some ubersite history (from memory), as well documentation of all the shenanigans to date (or at least the ones I can remember). If there are any others, feel free to ammend it.
2003:
Every time the same user +2ed a post it increases the average rating of a post.
Accounts verification does not exist. Instant sign ups.
A 1mb file size limit. Bitmaps are a rare occurrence.
One of the few forums to allow anonymous comments. The default name is Random Joe.
Drink_DDT first uber user to be banned. Bart gives a ten page explanation why.
Search function can scan post titles, post bodies and post comments. The most obvious use for this being searching for your own name in the comments. It seems like a pretentious thing to do, but if you write somebody's name in a comment you were guaranteed to get a response to it, it is just the done thing.

McBain http://www.ubersite.com/u/mcbain and Kristyswan http://www.ubersite.com/cgi-bin/message_get.cgi?user_id=2855 sign up within a few months and become the alter pioneers. The blueprints for any successful alter are drafted, and include the following: -2 every post on the front page (at this stage you couldn't get banned for this), post obviously fake or ugly camwhores, write stereotypically racist/redneck posts. I thought they were real, the concept of somebody signing up for the sole purpose of roleplaying seemed less believable than actually being stereotypical whitetrash/slut.
2004:
After gascs writes a script that makes thousands of page hits over a period of 10 minutes to gather statistical data on each user (hits, no. reviews, etc.), bart sets up a script that does the same thing server-side. "Everything you ever wanted to know about 'blank'" is introduced and hitwhoring is born. For the first time people know how far they are away from the most viewed author's list, and hits are now a worthless but sought after currency. This is where things went downhill.
Gascs steals or borrows the ubersite source code or something and creates his own, slightly lamer version of uber found here: http://www.pulsehead.com/ It was largely (un)populated by ubersite users sick of shenanigans for a while, now it gets about 5 posts a day on average.
I_Have_A_Kristen_Fetish joins the uber family. A common misconception is ubersite was designed as a serious writer's forum. IHAKF's misconception is that ubersite is a serious dating forum.
The search function was reduced to searching titles. Uberboard is introduced, the general assumption being it would mean a resurrection of the full search function.
Flute Boy becomes some weird cult icon on the site. Flute boy is a photo of some gook playing a trumpet or a flute or something. And emus played a role.
Lojope submits a post with the painfully cliched title "Path of Thorns: Healing sexually after rape." http://www.ubersite.com/m/40524 Fat, ugly chick who's living with her head in the clouds and fat ass in fairyland got raped? Big surprise there.
A month later KoolMang begins the event of pageantry and glamour that is to become known as 'Rape Madness': blank posts with the title "Rape" and the category "Politics -> Election 2004". Never one to miss out, Lojope herself joins the fun them cries for banning of all participants (excluding herself). Being a female, Bart takes her advice and bans the original and the best trolls: degreeless, spiral_abraxis, koolmang and cigar. New trolls don't replace the old ones, instead ubersite welcomes a wave of alters that are a billion times lamer than any troll could ever be.
Koolmang uses proxies to bipass the ban, signing up for dozens of accounts and spamming lojope, among other cunts. Account verification comes into play, it now takes a day to get an account. More spamming from koolmang and accounts are verified manually by bart once or twice a day. Here's a hint to would-be multiple account users: enter a fake name, address, zip, city and don't choose an obvious "alter" name. In desperation koolmang turns to using anonymous "random joe" comments to spam posts hundreds of times. Here's an example on a mickginny post:

Bart comes along and deletes them all, then koolmang spams again. This was the end of anonymous comments. MickGinny's Dog, MickGinny's Cunt Of A Wife and shlongy's gay lover are silenced.
Koolmang is depressed. Drops out of college. Fantasizes about murdering bart. Attempts suicide by hanging himself on a doorknob. Has to stop because "it was choking me".
Previously taboo, I go back over I_Have_A_Kristen_Fetish's entire catalogue of posts and -2 them. Spamming is introduced to uber and the rating system's integrity falls to absolute zero. Being some sort of unemployed computer nerd guy, IHAKF writes a spam-bot script to automatically -2 every single post, attaching stupid random comments. He gets banned, runs a spam script on the site, pushes polyamorousaj or somebody high onto most reviewed author's list, fucks up the site and chews up the bandwidth, and is unbanned.
Bart does a google search for the name IHAKF used to sign up for ubersite with, and finds IHAKF's personal webpage. IHAKF is now known as Eric Rice, or Eric Rice the rapist. His webpage included photos of himself doing a very realistic Timothy McVeigh impersonation at various locations, photos of his black mustang, and most importantly: photos of 14 year old girls he had stalked in malls with digital camera in hand. Meanwhile, while all this personal information stuff is going on, stonedsilly (AKA gibberish) gets the idea he's come across a hacker who hax0red ubersite into give out every user's personal details. He makes this image: http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/3617/diediedie5kc.jpg but is too shit to post it, so I sign up with an alter and post it myself, but it's actually just an excuse to draw attention to the fact that stonedsilly's dad is a convicted child molester.
Eric Rice loses his last "ally" on the site. Thinking she's hot shit, lojope translates (using babelfish) some french comment caulaincourt wrote and posts it in a reply. It says eric rice is a child molestor, and feeling betrayed by the only female who reciprocated his e-stalking Eric Rice fires up the spam bots and gets banned for good. A good chunk of eric rice-related shenanigans are lost, but not before google "suggests" Eric Rice is a child molester. Type in Eric Rice and see: http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en
Eric Rice is also seen posting on his college's afro-american organization's webpage forum. Something about hating niggers and then posting his own photo so they will know not to go near him if they see him on campus, 'cause he will kick their nigger asses.
2005:
Sometime during the Eric Rice saga, Eric Rice V2.0 sneaks his way onto the site, AKA shlongy. And almost a year later, to celebrate the outing of Eric Rice, shlongy receives the royal Rice treatment when his shitty band's name is made public knowledge. Bart is banning anyone who mentions shlongy's name, his band's name, his home address etc.
Bannings now apply for anything from breaking a +2 streak to changing your external name to someone else's. No ten page explanation anymore.
After trading nude pictures with vulva, overweight Urbane Mischief makes some hate post or some shit about vulva (you know, the guy she just sent SPREAD EAGLE CLOSEUPS to).

Smile is an understatement. exhaustive treatise on the pure crapulence of so many of the people that frequent this site. ubers a piece of foetid shit now, but i honestly do think it had potential to be somethnig special once. what that 'something' could have been i dont know, but it had something it doesnt now.

Well written. But any history of uber without a mention of Wazza's masterpiece is in need of some major revisions (I am well aware that "masterpiece" is an understatement; please understand that the English language does not offer any word to do 're 16 y/olds' the justice it so valiantly deserves).

The only stupid thing I can remember that had anything to do with me, was when AJ and that one chick accused me of being that FleetEnema guy.
When did "capping hits" start to happen? That should be in here. I know Method would have one of the MVM spots if his "Naked pictures of my 8 year old daughter" post wasn't capped. It was all over the Most Recently Viewed (remember that thing?) all the time.
Russ' "Gellieman" post brought nothing but pain to everyone, when stupid Gelliemanfans thought this place was all about that dude. Same thing goes for that other Tom guy's blink182 post.
I remember when a new post would stay on the front page for a day or more. Now, people post just to do it. Because you can't have more than one post on the front page at one time, some people think it means they HAVE to post once a day. Nobody here is interesting enough to hear from everyday.

Your wires are a little crossed on the Fetish saga, though.
His first banning was when the Most Recently Viewed list was still on Uber and I busted him because every night at about the same time he would have 5-9 of his posts on the Most Recently Viewed list at a time trying to make MVA.
Then he proceeded to put me on MVA and fuck with other stuff, so Bart put out his personal information on a post called "My Visit to Bart's House." I think Stabkill reposted that without the nasty Hot Carl picture that was included. The whole thing started from an Envenom hate post of Fetish if I remember right.

I remember all the spam wars with Fetish. Them were the good ol' days. If you look back over my old posts, you'll see the remnants of IHAKF's attacks in the form of spam by not only his account, but all his bots as well. At one point, he had my rating down to -1.00 with all his spamming.
It wasn't only Lojo who got Fetish banned either, I don't think. I know I and several others emailed Bart about him all at once.
Here are a couple of the more amusing remnants of the Fetish war in my post history:

Amusing really, because at the time, I was dead serious.
In fact, that last post was posted by an alter of mine I created solely to fend of Fetish attacks, and later was used to separate my true shit posts from more serious ones. Then that username was banned one day out of the blue for no particular reason. Kinda pissed me off at the time because I wasn't doing anything malicious with it at all. Oh well.
I was kinda disappointed you didn't include the whole debacle about FilthyAssistant being me. That was GREAT fun. Just about every jaw on uber simultaneously dropped on that one.
This post will get 4000 hits easily.
