Previous Chapter - http://www.ubersite.com/m/76711
The music pumped through the air like a sonic hammer. The crowd moved as one to the gothic techno beat and the the scent of incense and sweat permeated the the floor of the warehouse. Everywhere you looked, people moved against each other to the music, the lights pulsing. A Rammstein remix came on and the dance floor became electric. This was a club for the underground patrons, and those who felt they were "Alternative" to the normal scene.
Of course, Grace fit right in.
Tonight she sported black leather pants and a crimson tube top. An array of bracelets dangled from her wrists and a silver spiked choker finished off the ensemble. At the moment, she could be found in the center of the dance floor, grinding up against a leggy blond girl. She had left Ed at the bar to nurse his Scotch. He wasn't much of a dancer. He often said he was far too white to groove.
The blond was easily almost six feet tall, her hair incredibly long and in two braids that swung around her body. She was dressed in a short white skirt with matching corsette. The two girls moved closer to each other and began to rub their hands over each other's bodies as they danced. No one paid them any mind. Everyone was caught up in their own moment on the floor.
The girls continued to dance, their bodies intertwining, their hands exploring. The dark beats were injected with a light show being scattered across their gyrating forms. The blond leaned over and ran her tongue across Grace's neck.
"I want to take you home with me tonight!" she yelled over the music into Grace's ear.
"Which home?" asked Grace biting the blond's ear.
The blond gave her a quizzical look.
Grace caused her eyes to become alit with hellfire.
The blond laughed and grabbed Grace by the hand. She lead her off the dance floor over to the bar. Grace maneuvered her over towards Ed, who was doing shots of tequila.
"I'm sorry, your Highness, I had no idea that was you!" giggled the blond fairy once they had reached the bar.
"Don't apologize! It's not every day I get to dance like that with a hot metahuman."
"Dance like what," asked Ed.
"Don't you worry about it," said Grace.
"I take it you are Edward Sands, the Chaos Avatar?" asked the fairy. "My name is Greta. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"You too, hon. I take it you had fun out there with my girlfriend?"
The fairy just blushed and quickly changed the subject. "I assume you're here to see my brother, Viktor. I can lead you to him, come."
The three made their way through the throng of people, Greta taking Grace's hand, Grace's hand in Ed's. They made in across the floor over to a set of metal stairs. Two large men in suits stood at attention before the steps. One was a white guy, bald, and easily 300 pounds. The other "gentleman" was of African descent, with cornrows, and even bigger. They let Greta pass without hesitation, but their arms shot out blocking the incline when Grace placed a foot on the first step. The blonde fairy barked out a few commands in her native language at the two, who quickly moved back into their positions.
Ed and Grace exchanged a brief look but continued to follow Greta up the stairs. At the top, they came to a giant metal door with a coded lock. The Fairy quickly tapped in a series of numbers and the door swung open. She moved to allow them inside.
The room they walked into was huge, and Grace quickly realized that the mirrors along the ceiling that were visible from the dance floor were actually one way. She could see out onto the whole club. The row of secret windows took up one whole long wall of the room. Various televisions played in the room on mute and a plethora of aquariums and other tanks took up the other far wall. Couches and pillows were spotted all over the long, narrow room and at the end a small bar took up the remaining room. A few people lounged at the polished wood structure and sipped on drinks, seemingly unconcerned with their entrance.
Greta took two steps forward, then stopped, mumbling something.
"What's the matter?" asked Grace.
"Leilani's here. I didn't expect her. This might be bad. You two just wait here."
The fairy girl sauntered down the long room towards the bar. Ed and Grace watched her wrap her arm around one of the younger men and whisper in his ear. He didn't seem to notice her. She said something again, this time her listener made a great show of rolling his eyes and then looking over at the Kaote and the Princess. Words were exchanged between himself and another one of the men. Then a tall, skinny woman with long curly black hair began shouting in Fanfarie.
Grace clicked her tongue. Must be Leilani.
The leggy black hair woman came marching over to them, drink still in hand.
"And Gregori and Lujec just let the two of you up here, no questions asked? On Greta's say so? Well, you're not wanted here, so best just turn around and wander back down stairs."
"We're here to see Viktor," said Ed calmly.
"Oh, and you think that matters? Viktor hasn't the time for the likes of you. He's a very busy man. Now, I think it would be best if you..."
"I think it would be best if you shut your fucking mouth and went to fetch Viktor." Interrupted Grace.
Ed sighed as the woman's face screwed up in a look of revulsion. Discordian energy kicked in and just waited for it... wait for it... wait for it, there. The woman hurled her drink at Grace. Before a single drop could touch his girlfriend, he had turned the wine into smoke.
The woman looked at her glass dumbfounded.
"Now," continued Grace, her voice raising. "You are going to take us to see Viktor or I'm going to do things to you that have been outlawed by my father in all but the Ninth Circle."
"Leilani," came a voice from the bar. "Come back and refill your drink. I believe I will talk to the Kaote and her Highness."
A young man with hair as white blond as Greta's came out from behind the bar. Short and spikey, it was almost as pale as the silk suit he wore. The only bits of color on him were the blue of his eyes and the matching flower in his vest. He casually snuffed out a clove cigarette and drifted over to the couple.
"You must forgive both my cousin and my sister. Both are opposite ends of the extremes. Greta is a bit naive and Leilani trusts no one. This is a most difficult time for out kind, as you must know. Many of us have been found dead, for no particular reason. Even now, I do not know if you are here to kill us or not." Ed started to speak, but Viktor held up a hand. "I believe it not to be so. Why would a Chaos mage and his girlfriend, the Daughter of Satan, want the Fairy Folk dead? No, but it is whispered that you two are involved in something going on among these bodies of my fallen brethren."
"We both were close with Majestrix Lucinda when she came on holiday here to Earth. We have nothing but empathy for your kind and sorrow for those that have died. We believe that a rogue element in the High is acting to wipe out certain members of the Fairy folk that may have lead to his duplicity being uncovered. This possible treachery, while not entirely out of sync with what we are planning, has none the less hindered our actions."
Grace's mouth was as wide as her eyes at her boyfriend's political maneuvering.
"We merely are looking for a friend of ours who we believe may have mistakenly ended up in the Uhmbra. We only ask for access to your Mound so that we may travel there in attempts to locate him and bring him safely back home. I guarantee, not only am I immune to any backlash from this act, but Princess Grace has the full backing of the Infernal Throne. And, as I have said, your Majestrix would not deny us the visitation, especially if she knew who we were looking for - He was one of her friends, too."
Viktor sat there and looked at both of them. Ed took Grace's hand in his and kissed it.
"I honestly can't believe I'm going to allow this," said Viktor.
"Please," said Grace.
"Are you two ready to go now or..." trailed Viktor.
"We have everything we need in a pocket dimension. I'll grab the things just as we're ready to leave. That will be all up to you, whenever it's convenient," added Ed.
"I think I would like to have the two of you out of here as quickly as possible, thank you. If all your affairs are taken care of, I'll send you through now."
Viktor stood and motioned for them to follow. Ed and Grace went with him up to the bar. Another door sat on the far side of the mirrors, but before they could go through, Greta grabbed Grace's arm.
"Good luck," said the blonde Fairy.
"Thanks, hon," replied Grace.
The three of them followed the steps down at least four flights, and Ed could feel the force of the Earth above him now. Fairy Mounds had mostly been transferred underground in the last two centuries to protect them from mortals. Travel between the Uhmbra and Earth had slowed down considerably in the last half a century. It was just too dangerous. Most Fairy Folk just didn't know how to pass as human in it's modern society.
They reached the bottom of the steps and Viktor entered another code in a keypad. The door swung open to reveal the Mound. It was a hunk of Earth about the size of a small car, levitating inches off the ground. Grass still grew on the top, but white energy swirled around above it, like little moths leaving ghost trails. Sparkles of gold and silver flashed dimly here and there and a faint aria seemed to be singing off of the chunk of ground.
"I, I didn't think it would be so beautiful!" exclaimed Grace.
"Um... How exactly does it, eh..."
"How does it work?" smiled Viktor. "This piece of the Archguard known as Earth also simultaneously exists in the Uhmbra. Once you are ready, just clasp hands and step up onto it together. You will be transported instantly to my homeworld."
Ed called up his pocket dimension and pulled out the two back packs. He and Grace slung them on and stood before the Mound.
"I'm not entirely sure if either of you will have access to your abilities in the Uhmbra. Are you still sure you want to do this?"
"Positive," replied Ed.
"Yes," said Grace.
"Good luck, then..." said Viktor stepping out of the way.
The Kaote Edward Sands took the hand of Princess Grace Morningstar of Hell and they walked into a new world.

Well done.
I'm sad that there isn't any more yet, but at least now I can take a break from the site and ... oh, I don't know ... get some work done?

Very Cool. I am eagerly looking forward to then next as yet unwritten series.
I enjoyed the Rammstein reference. I have been fortunate to see them perform live twice. I saw them once at the Gold Coast in Australia and once in Amsterdam. Those boys sure do love their fire.

Me likey! I enjoyed Ed's diplomacy skills...harkens back to his experience in your earlier story arc that I can't remember the name of...the one where you introduce him. Nice touch. Things like that, and Grace's dancing and such really add to the personality of your character, which in turn adds to the uniqueness and believability of your story.
Go you.

Kaos, great way to tie up and lead us into the next story. I think it is going to take some time to wrap your arms around this and tie them together, but I envy your journey.

Well, that's it. Ed and Grace are now in the Uhmbra and I have to write the next series. Everything so far has been previously posted on pulseHEAD. I'm currently plotting out the last two series to the overall story, "Into The Uhmbra" and a still untitled final one. I know exactly what I want to happen, it's just breaking it down into chapters.
So, for the next couple of weeks I'm going to be posting a few more of my single short stories while I get all this cemented in my head. A huge thanks to everyone who has taken the time to read this long, ridiculous tale. Please, feel free to check out my website at http://antius777.freeservers.com for all kinds of story summaries and tons of illustrations.
All of you guys rock...
