Well, I really hate Oprah and her self-serving, whiny, love fest show. She tells women all they need to do to fix their lives is have higher self esteem, and you can have higher self esteem by doing whatever the fuck you want, including eating shitloads, sleeping around(but only ugly women), and treating their husbands like crap.

When exactly did blogs become a legitimate news source? How many of them do any fact checking at all? (Not that conventional news sources are looking too outstanding at it lately)
If you heard about the Ashton Kutcher 'wedding hoax' or cell messages thing, look at what happened. Some guy puts up a fake website, blogs quote it is undeniable truth, then the mainstream media picks up on it. They then use blogs as their sources. What the fuck.
So a blog news is going to be side by side someone with at least some accountability and professional training. Now which do you think people are going to read? The headline saying "Bush considers new tax plan" or "OMFG Bush = Satan DIE DIE DIE!".
Sure there will be the moderate thinkers who like to think things through logically, but they seem to be few and far between. It seems that as the internet becomes the be-all and end-all of communication, people are finding others with similiar thoughts and ideas. The nutjobs can band together because they no longer have to face the ridicule of society.
Last night I watched a show about an alien abductee convention. It had all these losers from around the country coming to show their 'scientific' proof and tell their stories. Instead they looks like your stereotypical redneck losers, conspiracy theorists, and people hawking stupid crap. But how many people would have been there without the internet? How many nutjobs are going online and feel validated by seeing others that believe the same things they do?
This can be applied to many shitty ideas floating around out there.
Japanese group suicides
Intelligent Design
UFOs
Homeopathy
etc.

I found it mildly amusing when some bloke got fired for writing about his shitty job in his blog. I used to do that in the late 90s. hillarious. as for blogs being a great news source, it's surprising how stupid some tabloid journalists really are and what lows they'll stoop to to try and get 'evidence' for their side of a story.
